Lots of paper slips attached to this contraption, holding the prayers of visitors to the shrine.

Outside a Buddhist Temple, Singapore

I had put together this little prayer area in the corner of my living room prior to going down to the Keswick Convention.

It was a real blessing to me to come before God here and I received my first anointing for service just as I was putting this little "temple" together on the 30th of June, 2013

Since coming back I have had to move my prayer area to the bedroom and as yet it is not in a clearly defined place due to the chaos of that room and indeed the rest of the flat. (I now have moved my computer desk to the living room in the same corner as it will work better for me longer term).

I'm taking time now till the end of this month to pray for Edinburgh and for other causes along with Destiny church in preparation for the Encounter event in Glasgow at the end of the month.

If you see this little post and testimony I would be very grateful if you would pray for me for my health and also that I may know the Lord more fully during this special time.

I attended the evening service at Destiny Church (Gorgie Centre) this past Sunday and there were some excellent scriptures given us and some thoughts on prayer which i noted down in my notebook.

I had intended writing all of them down here and perhaps I will later in comment form, but perhaps I will post pictures tonight and in the next few days that capture some of the thoughts embodied in the meditations if God gives me images to match the Words.

If not I will just put up the words somewhere and hope they will be an encouragement and exhortation to pray and a reminder that anyone can pray and if you have asked Christ to be your saviour you can pray with the Full Authority of God.

I am still struggling to remember this at times, but it is The Truth.

I pray you will be blessed today and that Christ will make His face to shine upon you and give you His peace. Now and always.

Jeremiah 29:11-14

Amplified Bible (AMP)

11 For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace [Shalom in the Hebrew] and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.

12 Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you.

13 Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

14 I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will release you from captivity and gather you from all the nations and all the places to which I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I caused you to be carried away captive.

Chukhung Ri, 5410 m. This statue is simple (is anything simple at this altitude?) but very effective. Buddist prayer flags are bit worn out but still sending prayers forth!

Have you noticed how dark the sky looks in these pictures at altitude? This was taken in the brightest mid-day sun, no filters used, zero editing! The sky by right shoud be very pale blue if not completely overexposed - yet it isn't it! Amazing, huh?

Someone's of a colourfully-inclined religious persuasion!

“Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.” - Mahatma Gandhi

Surely those who believe, do righteous deeds, establish prayer, and pay zakat, their reward with their Lord. There is no fear come upon them and not (also) they grieve.

A man silently recites Buddhist prayers as his fingers count the prayer beads in his hands. The photo was taken with the camera hand-held at ISO1600 during night time. The Shwe Dagon can be very lively during the full moon periods, unfortunately I arrived a little over a week after the previous full moon.

~Marriage Prayer~

May your love keep you sheltered

From here ever after,

May your hearts seek each other

Wherever your led.

With voices raised only

In song and in laughter

And ears listening closely

For words

Left unsaid

This shot was taken in the Meiji Temple near Harajuku a very famous street in Tokyo. The guy in the photo is probably reading the prayers leaved by others in the small wooden plaques called “Ema” on which Shinto worshippers write their prayers or wishes.

The worshippers buy the Ema for various wishes like success in work or on exams, marital bliss, to have children, and health. Some shrines specialize in certain types of these plaques, and the larger shrines may offer more than one. Sales of ema help support the shrine financially. After buy the worshippers left the ema hanged up at the shrine, where the kami (spirits or gods) receive them. They bear various pictures, often of animals or other Shinto imagery, and many have the word gan'i, meaning "wish", written along the side. In ancient times people would donate horses to the shrines for good favor, over time this was transferred to a wooden plaque with a picture of a horse, and later still to the various wooden plaques sold today for the same purpose.

Behind these wooden arches were nuns, standing, praying and singing. It is a picture from common peoples side of the church. Heavenly light reaches them both..

We saw many Buddhist prayer flags hanging in the trees on our hike, but also some fallen ones, too.

We picked up this prayer bowl in Chiang Mai when we were in Thailand last year.

The bowl gives off a chiming sound when the the stick is run around the outer edge of the bowl with just the right rhythm. Mush like making a wine glass "chime" The very big bowls have beautiful deep chimes, while the smaller(cheaper) ones like this give out higher pitched tones.

It took me a while to get the knack of using it, Tara is still struggling :)

A prayer wheel at Coronation Throne, Sikkim, India

Caty Weezles knelt down beside her very quietly, pressing her hands together after making a cross against her body. She mimicked her actions very carefully but continued to speak the whispers louder than normal, bouncing off the hollow walls, "I prays to God and I tells my daddy." She breaked in and prayed out loud, "Dear God make Hope not sad and cause if your sad you can't make sandcastles cause they just don't come out right." And with that she bowed her head down even more, eyes still on Hope. "I comes here to light candles for my mommy." The flamed stick poofing out as it falls to the ground. Thankfully, not starting a fire.

Hope Naxos stifles a choking sob as the girl starts to speak, her knuckles pressed hard into her teeth. Too much, just too much. She murmurs a quiet "amen," before her hands fall limp before her again, dangling between her thighs as she looks down at Caty. She didn't have to look down far. "That's very good.. it's good to tell your daddy when something scares you." Never mind that her daddy was exactly what scared Hope right now. She looks away, aware of the girl's eyes on her. "A very good prayer, sweets. Very good. I know God's listening- I feel better already." It's only when the stick falls and the flame goes out that she notices its presence, smiling faintly to herself. "God sees those too, don't he? It's nice to know he's watching."

This prayer shawl is one that all the knitters in our group will be taking turns knitting on. We are trying to find ways to use up odd's and ends in our stash that won't make a complete shawl. I thing that this will be a fun way to see color combination's come to life! :D So far this one is VERY soft and very light! It's very different from every other shawl we have done, but I think it's going to be fun to see it come together!
