For centuries, Tibetan Buddhists have tied these flags at places of spiritual importance for the wind to carry the divine vibrations across the countryside. Prayer flags are said to bring happiness, long life and prosperity.

I believe that these are "Ladakh Prayer Flags"

"Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The flags do not carry prayers to gods, a common misconception; rather, the Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all pervading space. Therefore, prayer flags are thought to bring benefit to all.... The prayers of a flag become a permanent part of the universe as the images fade from exposure to the elements. Just as life moves on and is replaced by new life, Tibetans renew their hopes for the world by continually mounting new flags alongside the old. This act symbolizes a welcoming of life's changes and an acknowledgment that all beings are part of a greater ongoing cycle."

I have to say that this is my FAVORITE picture from the wedding. Gary, my uncle's new stepson, and my Uncle James during prayer.

I didn't want to take pictures during prayer, but when I saw Gary Like this I knew I had to snap a shot. I love the waythis turned out. Very little editing to this.

So my friend Dylan scored us this sweet cabin somewhere in New Jersey. It was pretty awesome we had a lot of fun, it was just to bad that it rained most of the time.

In a corner of our bedroom we have this little prayer area, to sit before or kneel before and pray to the Lord God in Heaven. The icon in the centre is called ὁ νυμφος, The Bridgegroom; it is one of my favourite icons, of Christ at the moment before Crucifixion. On the left is an icon of the Last Supper, on the right the Crucifixion. The left-hand pile of books are a Book of Common Prayer, a book of prayers for men from my sister, "Meditative Prayer" by Richard Foster, and "A Saint Francis Prayer Book." To the right is a New Testament. Although you can't really see it, the placemat is the interior Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal.

I thought this statue looked like an angel praying, perhaps, for the people who live in the apartment behind her.

Although angels are part of a few stories appearing in the Bible, there are no biblical references to wings. We tend to think of heavenly beings with feathery wings thanks go the interpretations of Medieval artists.
