“The Practice” is a comic following the trial and error of a lacrosse player. The topic of the demise or fall was used to show the determination and intensity of the protagonist during his journey. The setting of this work had been abstracted to be series of shapes that reflect the emotion of the main character. The player repeatedly misses the net in his attempt to become a better player. Eventually the protagonist shoots the ball perfectly and accomplishes his goals.

The idea of trial and error is relatable to just about anyone who has been driven to improve in a craft. The stars do not simply align without any effort from the individual, but must be pushed with great force. I found a personal connection to the idea of practicing something over and over again or being faced with adversity and failure.

Playing the sport of lacrosse has been fundamental in my development as an adult. The values taught within the sport are imperative to being a progressive and driven individual. The world may be my oyster, but in order to take advantage of the opportunities presented in life, one must be able to fail over and over, but not lose confidence or a sense of purpose. Lacrosse, much like any sport, hobby, or trade is an incredible outlet to experience that failure that is vital to being successful. I believe that much more is learned from failure, rather than victory. This is a principle that stretches far beyond lacrosse.

The player in this work fails in his attempt to shoot the ball into the net, but does not let that failure stop him from trying his hardest. In the end, the player achieves his goals, proving that determination is the greatest key to success.

Caught some nice stuff during the rehearsals, even though the weather was a bit sketchy. LOTS of humidity, as you can see.

After the pups are weaned they will mate again so males are coming onshore. These juveniles are just practicing. Lots of that going on. Girls aren't in the least interested yet.
