I'm practicing drawing again, I looove photoshop! It's awesome, I can do anything I can with a pencil and pen on paper on it and it is ten times easier! Oh, and for some reason I think that this person kinda looks like Selina Gomez. But I think that's just me, I've been babysitting for my cousins a lot and have seen waaay too much of Disney channel.

Taken by Chad after our Breastfeeding Basics class. I thought it was funny that we got dolls to "practice" with so I asked Chad to get a picture of me with the swaddled little guy.

Not sure why my eyes look so crazy in this picture but it's scaring me! :)

Its the time of year my thoughts turn to the Red Deer rut at my local deer park.

An early morning trip to see how things are progressing. The rut has yet to start as its still quite early although there are signs that nots not far away. The large male stags have started to separate and are covering themselves in mud. There were a few practice fights amongst the younger stags. The large males stags are still eating to stock up as once the rut starts they won't eat until its over.

Because of recently sustained injuries and various other transitions this bodily shell I reside in has been going through, I had a moment of pause as I got dressed for aikido last evening. I thought to myself, what would I do if I had to terminate my practice? The idea was practically unthinkable...I started to cry at the thought. In that moment, I realized just how much this practice means to me. It's not just something I go to do two or four times a week...a number of hours. This is something that has become integral to my being and how I see the world and how I shape my life.

When I got to the dojo, I spoke of my trepidations to sensei. Before I even mentioned the idea that I might have to stop BECAUSE of my issues...he had listened to all my "complaints" and said, "It's a good thing you have your practice." He told me that he never understood why people stopped practice because of physical issues, as the practice can be done by anyone in any physical condition. It's about becoming aware and working within one's own "sphere." I was so grateful for these words of support and encouragement. And while I still had my minor limitations on the mat...it was a very, very good practice session...

Cool horse and well.. and a very close relative of mine.

After our fun 80's themed practice, we had a 90's themed practice! Drills included "Beavis and Butthead", "Schwing!" and "Come on Ride the Train" (to name a few), while skaters dressed in their best 90's gear. We saw a lot of flannel that night, alongside Looney Tunes, neon patterns, and Britney Spears.

Medical Friendly Shelter Full Scale Exercise 2018

The City held a full-scale exercise of the Medically Friendly Shelter (MFS) designed to establish a learning environment for participants to exercise their MFS operational plans.

The exercise served as a practical walk through of planning, operational coordination, operational communication, logistics and supply chain management, public health, healthcare, and emergency medical services

The MFS is only activated for a Category 2 or greater hurricane or as directed by the City Manager. The MFS is for people who, during periods of evacuation or emergency, require sheltering assistance due to physical, mental or cognitive impairment, or a sensory disability that exceeds the basic level of care provided at a general population shelter, but does not require the level of care provided at a skilled medical facility. This includes help with administering medication, personal hygiene assistance with activities of daily living (washing, dressing and eating).

This was a practice shoot we did to get prepared for the SuperPet Expo. We used both my dogs, JoJo and Haley, Jack Russell Terriers and my friend Janet's dog, the 4 Border Collies, for models. With Janet's help we set up some great shots and had a lot of fun.

This is what I would carry down the aisle. Or something like that. It was my first attempt making a bouquet on my own, and it wasn't that hard really. It's not perfect, but I do love handmade.
