This Stitched Panorama was put together on October 17,2017 which was just a few weeks after Hurricane Maria destroyed the power grids in Puerto Rico. The glow seen just above the mountain is from patio lights powered by dozens or maybe hundreds of personal home generators. The glow looks bright in this photo but only because I used a high iso of 6400 for 10 seconds and the lens was set to F/3.5. The sky is darker now but I wish there was a better way to reduce light pollution than have a Hurricane destroy a power grid.

One of TVA's electric substations, this one located off of Lost City Road in Logan County, Kentucky (10-30-2011). These have always fascinated me (my OCD tendencies probably like all the parallel lines and complicated appearances... LOL) but all I reeeally know about these facilities is that the the transformers inside the fence step down the far higher currents used to deliver electricity to a localized area. Think of it as a "valve" of sorts that meters out more manageable quantities that ultimately arrive within our homes... ;-)

I played with this any number of different ways but ultimately ended up liking this high contrast/saturation image best out of the bunch. I would've preferred a better composition but these were simply some snapped shots as we were making our turn north of Logan Aluminum's mill...

This sun baked transformer is located in Plano. The dynamic range far exceeded the camera's capacity and without a tripod for an HDR, I resorted to an ND-3 and a polarizing filter. With that much cheap glass in front of the lens, I was amazed that there was any sharpness at all. Tweaked the image in Photoshop with a couple of layer adjustments and some burning and dodging. Unfortunately, it ended up being an image only a technician could love...sort of industrial chic.
