This photo could symbolize many things. Suppression of little people; Dictatorship; Deep State; Big Brother; oppression against women. In fact, it represents the opposite. Jan Žižka led an army of peasants, little people against the powerful Roman Empire and they were victorious due his clever military tactics for many years (1419-1434) even after his death in 1424. Equipped with simple modified farming tools, his small army demonstrated the Power of People. The monumental bronze statue was sculpted by B. Kafka in 1931-1941 and is part of Vítkov National Monument. Žižka historical heroics are always on the mind of the Czech folk, when their freedoms are in jeopardy.

April is National Poetry Month, a celebration of poets and poetry that's been in place for 25 years.
Last month, as the U.S. grieved over attacks against Asian Americans, NPR's Morning Edition collected poems on how people grapple with the increased violence and discrimination.
Over 500 listeners shared powerful, poignant poems — in the form of a list beginning with the word "today." They showcased fear, anger, empathy and motivation to make the world a better place.
NPR's resident poet Kwame Alexander took lines from the submissions to create a community poem, "Today, I Am A Witness To Change."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To quote just a few:
Today I hesitate
for the first time, I wonder if I should stay home and not walk the neighborhood.
it's not the weather or the virus — the day is beautiful
Today
I'm frozen
Terrified.
I cannot hide
This skin
This hair
These eyes.
I see the punch, punch, punch of a community at war.
Today I am a witness.
I rush past the jeering white boys that say I brought corona to America.
My soul is wary.
Today, a video call full of empty boxes
Stares at me, apprehensively.
Students locked behind a screen
Their hearts and minds
Severed
From one another.
Today, the headlines say March Madness
Today, I don't watch basketball.
The madness is in the streets.
In broad daylight.
On the concrete sidewalks of New York.
In the silence of bystanders.
It's in the textbooks. The classrooms. The family dinners. The lies we tell.
Today the rain falls
and falls
and falls
and falls.
a silent tear from a weeping woman.
Today, I will say their names
I will cancel class and try again tomorrow.
That's a scary thought to commute to NYC nowadays for me, even I'm FULLY inoculated. :-(((
these burning flames, these crashing waves
wash over me like a hurricane
i'll captivate, you're hypnotized
feel powerful but it's me again
come, lay me down
cause i know this sound
in the middle of the night, in the middle of the night
just call my name, I'm yours to tame
The Jaguar XK150 is a sports car produced by Jaguar between 1957 and 1961 as the successor to the XK140.
Initially it was only available in fixed head coupé (FHC) and drophead coupé (DHC) versions. The roadster without full weather equipment which had begun the XK line was launched as the XK150 OTS (open two-seater) in 1958. Minimal rear seats were fitted in the coupés. The open two-seater was fitted for the first time with wind-up windows in taller high-silled doors, but retained the very simple folding roof of its predecessors.
History
Announced in its home market in May 1957 the XK150 bore a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140 but was radically revised. Most visibly, a one-piece windscreen replaced the split screen, and the wing line carried higher and more streamlined at the doors. The widened bonnet opened down to the wings, and on the coupés the windscreen frame was moved forward 4 inches (102 mm) to make passenger access easier. The car was available at various times in Red, Pearl Grey, White, Indigo Blue, Claret, Cotswold Blue, Black, Mist Grey, Sherwood Green, Carmen Red, British Racing Green, Cornish Grey, and Imperial Maroon.
The XK150's dashboard came trimmed in leather, with walnut optional on all models. On the early drophead coupés, the aluminum center dash panel, which was discontinued after June 1958, had an X pattern engraving similar to the early 3.8 E-Type. Thinner doors gave more interior space. A little red light reminded the driver that the front parking lights, located atop the wings (fenders), were on.
Suspension and chassis were very similar to the XK140, with manual-only rack and pinion steering. The 3.4 litre DOHC straight-6 XK engine was similar to the XK140's, but a new "B" type cylinder head raised power to 180 SAE bhp at 5750 rpm.
XK150 S 3.4L XK engine with orange paint used on S models with "straight port" cylinder heads fitted with three carburetors
The first closed and convertible XK150s were slower than their predecessors. After a twelve-month delay caused by the February 1957 factory fire, this deficit was corrected in the spring of 1958 with the March release of special equipment models fitted with disc brakes and more powerful SE engine. Twin 1.75-inch (44 mm) SU HD6 carburetors and a modified B type cylinder head with larger exhaust valves improved performance to 210 SAE bhp at 5500 rpm. While most export cars were SE models, a third option for the open two-seater featured an "S" engine with three 2-inch (51 mm) SU HD8 carburetors and a straight-port cylinder head boosting power to a claimed 250 SAE bhp.
In 1960 the 220 hp (164 kW; 223 PS) 3.8 liter engine fitted in the full-sized luxury Mark IX saloon since October 1958 became available. It was tuned to produce up to 265 hp (198 kW; 269 PS) in S models and propel an XK150 to 135 mph (217 km/h) and from 0–60 mph in around 7.0 seconds. Fuel economy was 18mpg. Four-wheel Dunlop 12 in (305 mm) disc brakes appeared for the first time as an option. Factory specification 6.00 × 16 inch Dunlop Road Speed tires or optional 185VR16 Pirelli Cinturato CA67 radials could be fitted on either 16 × 5K½ solid wheels or optional 16 × 5K wire wheels.
## 🎬 Prompt cinématographique hyperréaliste
Allée forestière enneigée au cœur d’une forêt ancienne et mystérieuse, formant un tunnel naturel créé par des arbres gigantesques aux troncs sombres et aux branches tortueuses qui s’entrelacent au-dessus du chemin comme les arches d’une cathédrale gothique naturelle. Le sol est recouvert d’une épaisse couche de neige immaculée, légèrement bleutée par la lumière nocturne, avec une trace unique d’empreintes humaines serpentant au centre du sentier et disparaissant dans la distance.
La scène se déroule pendant une nuit d’hiver silencieuse. Une brume froide et dense flotte entre les troncs d’arbres, enveloppant la forêt dans une atmosphère mystérieuse. La lumière de la lune traverse le brouillard en rayons volumétriques spectaculaires qui illuminent les branches couvertes de givre et projettent de longues ombres organiques sur la neige.
Au bout du tunnel d’arbres, une lumière chaude dorée brille faiblement à travers la brume, créant un point focal puissant et un contraste dramatique avec les tons bleus froids de la nuit. Les particules de neige flottent dans l’air et captent la lumière, renforçant la profondeur et l’atmosphère cinématographique de la scène.
La composition est parfaitement symétrique avec une perspective centrale profonde qui guide naturellement le regard vers la lueur mystérieuse au loin. Les textures sont extrêmement détaillées : écorce rugueuse des arbres, neige poudreuse, givre cristallin sur les branches et légères traces de vent sur la surface enneigée.
Style visuel inspiré d’un film fantastique sombre et poétique, ambiance immersive et silencieuse évoquant un passage vers l’inconnu.
**cinematic movie still, éclairage dramatique, lumière volumétrique dans le brouillard, photographie hyperréaliste, textures ultra détaillées, profondeur de champ cinématographique, ARRI Alexa 65 look, objectif anamorphique 40mm, HDR lighting, film grain subtil, color grading bleu nuit et argent avec highlights dorés, ultra realistic, 16K, composition symétrique immersive.**
## 🎬 Ultra-Detailed Cinematic Hyperrealistic Prompt
A snow-covered forest pathway deep within an ancient and mysterious woodland, forming a natural tunnel created by massive trees with dark trunks and twisted branches intertwining overhead like the arches of a gothic cathedral. The ground is covered with a thick layer of pristine snow, softly tinted blue by the cold night light, with a single trail of human footprints running along the center of the path and fading gradually into the distance.
The scene takes place during a silent winter night. A dense, icy mist drifts between the tree trunks, enveloping the forest in a mysterious atmosphere. Moonlight cuts through the fog in dramatic volumetric rays, illuminating frost-covered branches and casting long organic shadows across the snow.
At the end of the tree tunnel, a distant warm golden light glows faintly through the fog, creating a powerful focal point and a striking contrast with the cold blue tones of the night. Tiny snow particles float through the air, catching the light and enhancing the cinematic depth of the scene.
The composition is perfectly symmetrical with a deep central perspective guiding the viewer’s eye naturally toward the mysterious light in the distance. Every surface is highly detailed: rough tree bark, powdery snow textures, crystalline frost on branches, and subtle wind patterns across the snowy ground.
The visual style evokes a dark fantasy film atmosphere, poetic, immersive, and slightly mysterious, suggesting a passage toward the unknown.
**cinematic movie still, dramatic lighting, volumetric moonlight through fog, hyperrealistic photography, ultra-detailed textures, cinematic depth of field, ARRI Alexa 65 look, anamorphic 40mm lens, HDR lighting, subtle film grain, cold blue and silver color grading with warm golden highlights, ultra realistic, 16K resolution, immersive symmetrical composition.**
An image originally uploaded 12 years ago and which, now approaching its 48th birthday, I thought merited a shunt forward.
While offering little artistic merit, for me, the whole scene here at Crewe just seems to embody the spirit of the rail network in the 1970s - the station porters scrambling to load the mail-bags on to the front Mk 1 BG carriage, the proliferation of Royal Mail trolleys littering the platform, and the driver with his head out of the window keeping an eye on progress and waiting for the green flag and/or whistle giving him clearance to depart. I notice the passenger carriages are Mk 1 stock too (now identified as Mk2 AC) - not all traffic passing through Crewe was air-conditioned in 1978.
This shot was taken from what was then platform 3. After the station and approaches were remodelled in 1985, this became platform 11 - the one folk visiting the station today will be more familiar with.
Note the platform lighting - translucent plastic housings with the station letters mounted upon them, each containing fluorescent light tubes and topped off with a red cover. This was pretty standard around the larger stations on the network in the 1970s. These days, stations are much more powerfully lit, and often with motion sensor-fitted lighting systems that brighten or darken the illumination as necessary.
The original upload has been deleted, but I have included the fairly sparse original narrative below:
When Royal Mail parcels and post still made for an important part of rail traffic, class 86 no. 86255 pauses at Crewe and the gang get to work while the passengers board the train.
Reynisfjara black sand beach is the most famous beach on the South Coast of Iceland. Its beautiful black sand, powerful waves, and the nearby Reynisdrangar sea stacks make Reynisfjara a truly unique place to visit and a popular filming location (Game of Thrones, Star Wars and more).
Wednesday night's sunset....I was prepping the pool for closure this upcoming weekend while keeping an eye on the sky. It got to about 7PM and I figured we might get a good one. It was windy this evening so a reflection with a pond was out of the question with too much water movement. So I had this shot that I imagined a couple weeks back that I would use when I have little time to decide where to go. So I packed my gear and headed to this location and was not disappointed with the sunset. It was a little weird standing under these power lines for about 45 minutes listening to the sizzle and pop when that much electricity flows through these lines.
Yes..... it was that bright with the yellows and oranges.
A powerful rare earth magnet is hidden in the base. Each time the hourglass is turned over, a different pattern is formed as the tiny ferrous balls are drawn into the magnetic field.
Athabasca Falls are located in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. The powerful falls have carved a gorge for the water to make its way down to the Athabasca River. Excellent trails allow you to navigate fairly easily through the area. The day we visited was gray and rainy which I think made the lichen covered rock walls really "pop".
