The night-light's shadow

Seen every day after dark

Had to capture it

1. A list (photography packing post-it)

2. Something with a strap, or straps (camera bag with unicorn pin)

3. Artificial light (a single night-light)

This chair sits in the bathroom, and is used mainly to safely hold an iPad outside of the bathtub, for the viewing pleasure of one taking a bath.

When not in use, it sits over by the night-light, and whenever you walk into the bathroom at night, this night-light turns on and stays on for a bit.

It's a fun show, and the shadow it casts is mesmerizing, especially when you're half asleep.

Fiddled with the angle of the chair, the light, keeping things in the frame, taking things out. I think this is about as clean as I could get it without moving it to another room. But then it wouldn't be the same.

It needed to be in situ.

May 16, 2011-- My newest art project, a bunch of random post-it notes on my wall. It's not done, yet. Maybe one day I will finish it.

It's a mug featuring the Tumblr "t" and a single message notification. Hope you like it.

a way to create a to-do list so that I can VISUALLY see my list shrinking. As I complete a task, I pull down a note. It's a real sense of accomplishment!

I never manage a picture on days when I come home from a trip. Have some desk detritus instead.

Venn Diagram Mug showing that level between a fresh full cup and the moment it is almost gone. It's always nice to freshen up a low cup of coffee. I need more coffee.

Enjoy!

I've had this stuffed dragon since I was 5. I think she came from a bin at Costco or what-have-you.

And then there's my bed.

When Evelyn Beatrice Longman did this relief sculpture, she rocked out the panther throne.

Evelyn Beatrice Longman was thinking about what put to into her depiction of the allegorical figure of agriculture. She thought "hmm, i'll have this woman sitting in a throne with an overflowing lapful of fruits. But something is missing. Oh i know! The throne needs PANTHERS!"

Yeah! Panthers. You can tell Evelyn wanted to amp up the Agricultural allegorical figure by having her throne feature PANTHERS... PANTHERS OF DOOM!

Just so you know Evelyn Beatrice Longman was the kick-ass sculpturess of her time. The Smithsonian Institution writes: Longman was inspired to begin a career in sculpture and decoration at the age of 19 when she visited 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. She studied under Lorado Taft at the Art Institute of Chicago, earning her four-year degree in two years. "What distinguished Longman," wrote Margaret Samu, a Longman scholar,"was her commitment to monumental sculpture, an arena usually occupied by men. Although some women of Longman's generation created large scale works, she was the first who built her career on that basis." [Smithsonian Institution]

Yeah, Evelyn Beatrice Longman. Panther-throne rocker!

This is actually a make-up picture, since I forgot to take one in the excitement of driving to see my grandparents.

I started drawing this one on Valentine's Day morning but never got a chance to finish it. Found some time today to finish the love. I hope you like it.

So we took his week out of the office to show him how much we love him.

More small drawings and doodles from long ago. From life/observation. Pen on paper. Small - inex card or post-it note.

I was photographing around the State Street bridge and these bridge lights were blinking in the middle of the road. The other Chicago River bridges don't have these flashing yellow lights in the middle of the street. They were kinda neat. So I wrote a note and stuck it inside the light.

Charlie Vero-Martin Unleashes a Brand-New Work-in-Progress Stand-Up Show!

Critically acclaimed Scottish comedian Charlie Vero-Martin is back with a fresh, unpredictable, and hilarious work-in-progress stand-up show, packed with surreal storytelling and absurd observations.

A rising star on the UK alternative comedy circuit, Charlie has appeared on BBC Scotland and Next Up Comedy and was a 2023 finalist for Leicester Square Theatre's Sketch Off and the Funny Women Stage Award.

Charlie's previous solo show, Picnic, enjoyed sold out performances in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leicester, VAULT fest and the Soho Theatre. It was also recommended by the British Comedy Guide and appeared in The Telegraph's best shows and jokes of the Fringe 2023.

Known primarily as a character and improv comedian with a penchant for props and puppets, this work-in-progress marks an exciting chapter as Charlie experiments with a brand-new, stripped back, stand-up set.

If you love comedy that’s smart, silly, and unafraid to take unexpected turns, don’t miss your chance to catch this exclusive look at her original new hour.

Praise for previous solo shows:

A giant portrait made of post-it notes

GDS hosted the first ever International Design in Government Conference to bring the community together in one place for two days full of talks, workshops, breakout sessions and a panel discussion.

Local #govdesign Day welcomed designers and design-minded public servants working in local governments to the cross-government user-centred design community. It shed a light on the great work happening on a local level and introduced people to each other and designers in central government. It was a day for, with and by designers in local government.

The event was supported by Birmingham City Council and jointly organised by the Government Digital Service’s National and UCD Communities teams.

Inspired by Totoro from the Studio Ghibli Movie "My Neighbor Totoro". However I think mine came out looking too much like a strange Squirrel. I hope you like it.

It's morning time so have a nice mug of coffee. This is part 1 of a 4 mug mini series drawn for a possible watch face design. All four mugs work together as a set.

Drawn April 22nd while at home watching over my sick daughter. She had the sniffles and a light fever.

Had a big storm last night with a lot of lightning. Got the dogs all worked up and woke me up.

Hope you like it.
