The term "Working Poor" refers to individuals who, despite being employed, live in poverty due to low wages and inadequate working conditions. This phenomenon is prevalent in many parts of the world, including the European Union. In Southern Europe, particularly in countries like France and Italy, the working poor demographic is significant and troubling. These individuals often engage in low-paying, physically demanding, and hazardous jobs that offer little to no job security, benefits, or opportunities for advancement.

The plight of the working poor is especially poignant among young women. These women often find themselves trapped in a cycle of exploitation and hardship, performing jobs that are both physically taxing and socially demeaning. They work long hours in sectors such as agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and service industries, where the working conditions can be deplorable.

In France and Italy, it is estimated that a significant portion of the workforce belongs to the working poor category. According to recent studies, approximately 8-10% of the working population in these countries falls under this classification, with young women being disproportionately affected. These women are often migrants or from disadvantaged backgrounds, lacking the resources or opportunities to escape their circumstances.

Poem: "Ode to the Working Poor Women"

In fields where the sun beats down,

And sweat mingles with the soil,

They labour with furrowed brows,

Invisible in their toil.

In kitchens where the steam does rise,

And knives cut through the day,

Their hands move with practiced ties,

In a world that turns away.

In factories dim and loud,

Where machines never cease,

Their spirits, though weary and bowed,

Seek a fragment of peace.

Unseen, unheard, they strive,

In a cycle of relentless need,

But within their hearts, they keep alive,

A hope, a dream, a seed.

To the young women who endure,

In the shadows of our cities bright,

Your strength, your courage pure,

Is a beacon in the night.

Haikus

Toil in silence, strong,

Sweat and hope, their daily song,

Brave hearts, all day long.

Fields and kitchens call,

Women rise and never fall,

Shadows hide them all.

"I had stopped to look at the beautiful dresses displayed. One in particular caught my eye; in fact it magically mesmerized me. A formal white gown of exquisite fabric adorned with sapphire jewels, of a shapely cut to accentuate the feminine figure. I had a heartrending hallucination of my darling in that dress, all smiles and sapphires and delightful décolletage; and stepped back to read the sign above to discover it was a bridal shop. This old Bentley is seen in the service area of the Bentley dealership.I found it funny, but a bit sad without it's headlights.

Aside from being held on a small cage, this Lion looks like he hasn't being fed well.

we had her spayed last week, and she has to wear this cone collar for a few days

I normally don't like to post photos of this poor quality, but in this case I'm making an exception. This warbler is quite an uncommon migrant in Georgia, especially in the spring. This is the yard's second spring record, the first being 5/22/06. Quite interesting how it's just a day apart!

I had to chase this guy around for around an hour before finally seeing him. It seemed as if he teleported around the property!

She seemed to enjoy it as a challenge, a bit like when we play seek with dog treats. Anyway, I am cruel to her : )

Drawn from a photograph... badly.... in poor light.... when I was really tired!

I went with Dylan to a hockey game that he had to cover and came thisclose to losing my gloves. Luckily, I was able to bribe a small child to recover them for me.

Yes, poor pug. But he got a hot dog out of this.

Poor cat still loves on her even after all she's put him through.

This is a photo of Timmy taken in January.

Today we returned home from our week away.

Pippy and Timmy were a little bit confused when we first came home but overall were happy to see us.

After being home for about an hour we couldn't find TImmy. She didn't come when I called her for her dinner. We searched the flat thoroughly but couldn't find her. Then we searched the stairwell thinking she may have sneaked out the door. We even searched outside fearing the worst....

After an hour of searching I found her hidden behind some pot plants downstairs. She was shaking and had some blood on her face and paws. I rushed her to the vets' to make sure she was okay. She had fallen three floors and luckily has only *minor* injuries. Her front paws are scraped and so are her nose and mouth. Poor little thing! Right now she is in a box under our bed resting.

We don't know how she managed to fall out the window. She and Pippy always sit on the window ledges.

:-(

Mother of the Year aka me forgot that at the baby check she will get a vaccination shot again. And not just that Mother of the Year also forgot that last time she needed pain killers. My Pikku-Pupu suffered hours in vain before my hazy brains finally understood why she is crying like mad. I felt like shithead child torturer.

She was 66cm and 7030 g
