It must be so hard for a mother to see her child like this!

(i did not take this)

One day this will be an artifact, uncovered from an archaeology dig, In the meantime, it reclines, sculptural, while leaves turn and fall, and the roof it once rose from has been torn down and carried away.

Unfortunately Sophie is unwell at the moment. She has lost about a kilo, which is alot for a cat due to a thyroid problem. Fortunately, our pet insurance will pay for Radio Active Iodine Treatment which will cure it completely. She seems brighter this morning however. Some people have criticized us for taking treatment this far. They think it's too much fuss for just a cat. But if you take on a pet you take on the responsibility for a living creature. The vet doesn't think she is suffering at the moment, and that is key to our decision to give her a chance of full recovery.

It's a poor excuse for what I'm doing . But it's still true"

Even hummers can get ticks. It makes one wonder how they get rid of them in the wild.

It's been a very ticky summer this year. I haven't seen any for almost a month, though. Maybe their season has past.

Divided from herself and her fair judgment,

Without the which we are pictures, or mere beasts"

This one was taken after she was over the worst day. It was terrible. She seems to have had an auto-immune reaction against her own body - poor little thing - eye drops, cream, cortisone tablets, injections, vitamin E and an embarrassing collar to stop her scratching. Looking much better than this now, but still wearing large lampshade on head and hoping not to be seen by her boyfriend, Humphrey, until she's looking a bit more frisky and more like her normal self.

She really had her hands, er paws, full with these two cubs. They'd been up on the tundra earlier filling up on berries and when they came down to the river, one of them, the one closest to mom was all wound up. Must have been sugared up from all the berries, but he was starting all kinds of trouble with his sibling and then his mom. It was hilarious to watch. I got some great shots

I feel really bad about this one. I saw it across the street and tried to give it some treats, but it didn’t work. I then grabbed my long lens and saw how the bugger was in poor health (I’m feeding five cats from the hood but they all have homes and owners, and this one is truly a stray). Going to borrow my wife’s cat carrying cage and if I can get closer, I’ll bring him to a vet and pay for it. Can’t stand to see an animal suffer!

I hated school. Even to this day, when I see a school bus it's just depressing to me. The poor little kids.

Having reviewed the new BA, why not put them to use?

This little ghost crab let me get very close. He kept running away from my camera backwards and falling over. i liked this one because you could see a bit of the beach and his tracks behind him.

Check out the entire set.

“Dying is not romantic, and death is not a game which will soon be over... Death is not anything... death is not... It's the absence of presence, nothing more... the endless time of never coming back... a gap you can't see, and when the wind blows through it, it makes not sound...”

D had his 1 year shots almost 3 weeks ago now. He had the MMR and chicken pox shot.

So, of course, he is one of the few that actually developed the measels and chicken pox from the shots. :(

He is on the mend and looking much better this week! :)

I dug this out from a few weeks ago when we were at the park. He isn't feeling like getting his picture taken this week.

Poor little fella....

Baxter was trying so hard to get under the fence to make friends with them, and they seemed so friendly. There were several more of them, and they are staying on the Gypsy Field here in Stow.

Our poor hydrangea is looking very sad.

This female killdeer has a nest with four eggs up on the hill behind the house. She puts on this act every time I walk up there. Those red dirt castings on the left are from a big Harverster ant bed. For fifteen summers I''ve walked up there and surveyed this ant bed in hopes of finding a Horned Lizard. No luck. Two connected species in peril- the ants and the horny toads.

Well, I'm quite obviously still no portrait-photographer and this lens isn't close to what anyone would consider sharp... and yet, I really like the look it creates. There could be more interesting subjects for sure… perhaps one day, who knows.

Oh, by the way: that lens is likely somewhere between 80 and 100 years old - it‘s really hard to say for sure, but I‘m trying to find out.
