Saltcoats swimming pool started off as a small pool before being reconstructed by the Burgh Council in 1933 to the large pool, shown above. It was opened on 10th June 1933 on the site of the old bathing station that had been a favourite spot for bathers for 50 years. Prior to that, it was the harbour that was the focus for bathers.
The formal opening was carried out by the Right Honourable The Lord Provost of Glasgow at 2.30pm on Saturday 10th June. After a fine spell of weather, the skies were dull and rain fell but that did not deter the programme of swimming and diving that had been arranged.
In its day it was the finest open-air pool in Scotland, with modern changing rooms, showers, and a tea room. It was even equipped with flood lights for midnight bathing, weather permitting. As many as 2,000 visitors would visit the pool on any day during July and August.
However, it had long been recognised that an indoor pool was essential due to the increase in demand and because swimming was an all year round sport. In May 1973 a new indoor pool at Auchenharvie in Stevenston was opened.

The library hosted a swim party for all kids 6-18 who had read over 30 books in the Texas Reading Club. There was fun in the Friendswood pool, plus grilled hot dogs by the Boy Scouts and popsicles for everyone!

Our backyard pool, enough to cool off on these hot days without the cost or upkeep of a normal pool.

Hamilton Pool is one of the best swimming holes in Texas - and a great place to picnic, swim, and spend some time on the hot Texas summers.
The Jubilee Pool is open every summer from the end of May to early September. The pool provides a fabulous venue for swimming, sunbathing or simply relaxing by the poolside. A small baby pool set within the main pool provides an ideal environment for children to enjoy the water in safety, and there is a poolside cafe which is open all day with the pool as a spectacular backdrop.
