The Morning Glory Pool is one of the most amazing hot spring, located on the upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone NP.
Rare to have both sons home over the Thanksgiving holiday, so we spent a pleasant hour at the billiard parlor. . .Lynn snapped this image on her cellphone.
One of the many geothermal jewels in Yellowstone's West Thumb Geyser Basin. Abyss is the deepest pool known in Yellowstone and received its name for its abyss-like depth.
West Thumb Geyser Basin is one of the smallest geyser basins in Yellowstone yet its location along the shore of Yellow-stone Lake ranks it as the most scenic.
One of the deeper hot springs in the park, Abyss Pool descends to 53 feet (16 meters). It varies from turquoise blue to emerald green to various shades of brown.
Hope your week is off to a great start!
AT THE POOL
Happiness was a day at a pool
in the grass ringed round
with trees up to the sky
here I was god’s and my
grandpa’s lad – both died,
happiness is dangerous
in the evening the pool has lain down
so mirror-smooth that sky, trees and grass
repeat themselves below the ground
fear and longing both ask me
to come back

Hurricane Fiona devastated much of the Canadian Maritime provinces, including my beloved summer home of the past thirty plus years, Prince Edward Island. Lots of property damage either by wind or storm surge. Still waiting to hear about my cottage and just hoping for the best. Fortunately so far, it sounds like no one was killed or severely injured, which is the best news in all of this. Unlike people, stuff can be replaced.

The Champagne Pool is a prominent geothermal feature within the Waiotapu geothermal area in the North Island of New Zealand. The terrestrial hot spring is located about 30 km southeast of Rotorua and about 50 km northeast of Taupo. The name Champagne Pool is derived from the abundant efflux of carbon dioxide (CO2), similar to a glass of bubbling champagne. The hot spring was formed 900 years ago by a hydrothermal eruption. Its crater is around 65 m (213 ft) in diameter with a maximum depth of approximately 62 m (203 ft) and is filled with an estimated volume of 50,000 m3 (1,800,000 cu ft) of geothermal fluid.

A favourite location of mine for New Year's Day walkies near Sligachan, Isle of Skye - a dull and dreary morning but it wasn't raining!

Quando sei in vacanza in Sardegna, e fuori c'è troppo vento per fotografare e allora decidi di fotografare il residence dal cortile dell'appartmamento....
A hot spring in the Upper Geyser Basin at Yellowstone National Park. The distinct color of the pool is due to bacteria which inhabit the water. On a few occasions, Morning Glory Pool has erupted as a geyser, usually following an earthquake or other nearby seismic activity. Several entryways have been clogged due to objects being thrown in by tourists, reducing the hot water supply, and in turn altering the overall appearance of the pool. Several attempts by park officials to artificially induce eruptions to clear the pool of debris and clear blocked entryways have been met with mixed results. Due to the damage caused by ignorance and vandalism, it has been suggested that Morning Glory is becoming a "Faded Glory".
This was our first trip with digital cameras, almost 10 years ago. I am slowly adding photos to this album as time allows.
