in the grass ringed round
with trees up to the sky
here I was god’s and my
grandpa’s lad – both died,
happiness is dangerous
in the evening the pool has lain down
so mirror-smooth that sky, trees and grass
repeat themselves below the ground
fear and longing both ask me

Backyard Pool it has been a wet week, several inches in the last 3-4 days, I hope the birds clean it out, shot in North Carolina.
Towards the base of Black Beaver Falls, a group of rocks and cascading water catches the light. Agawa Canyon, Algoma, Ontario.

Similar in size and shape to the chaffinch, the male brambling has a black head in summer, and an orange breast with white belly. In flight it shows a long white rump. Gregarious in winter, it may form flocks of many thousands and often joins with chaffinches. Numbers can vary between winters depending on food supplies. It is a Schedule 1 species. (RSPB)
The Champagne Pool is a prominent geothermal feature within the Waiotapu geothermal area in the North Island of New Zealand. The terrestrial hot spring is located about 30 km southeast of Rotorua and about 50 km northeast of Taupo. The name Champagne Pool is derived from the abundant efflux of carbon dioxide (CO2), similar to a glass of bubbling champagne. The hot spring was formed 900 years ago by a hydrothermal eruption. Its crater is around 65 m (213 ft) in diameter with a maximum depth of approximately 62 m (203 ft) and is filled with an estimated volume of 50,000 m3 (1,800,000 cu ft) of geothermal fluid.
The rear DPU on B65111 crosses over the trestle at Pool Point. In a couple miles, they'll hold for a work window at Towers.
A favourite location of mine for New Year's Day walkies near Sligachan, Isle of Skye - a dull and dreary morning but it wasn't raining!
A full moon always creates extreme tides and beautiful tide pools at Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. A small abalone shares a tide pool with the shell of a sea urchin, a sea anemone and a few mussels.
