Now Kensal Green is a very polyglot cemetery, any alphabet is possible. So I didn't think too much about this at the time. But looking at it now, I realise that this is actually some form of shorthand. I don't know any shorthand, but checking sources on the net it does suggest some form of Pitman, which has the little loops. But there are several ways of writing this, and it's just one system among many.

It would help if I could get something from the dates (though I can't read the months), but Googling, both for Kensal Green and for the b/d dates of shorthand luminaries has told me nothing so far about who lies here.

"When I arrive at the high school where I teach English, crowds of students are speaking Luxembourgish. In general, students comfortably navigate the three administrative languages of their country (Luxembourgish, French, and German) on a daily basis. In my classroom of twenty-one teenagers, all the students can speak at least these three languages if not four, five, or six. There are students who speak Italian or Albanian. Some speak Arabic. Others know Spanish.

I wonder if my students’ ears are able to find harmonies between languages simply because they’re accustomed to the polyglot environment in Luxembourg. Will the sounds start rubbing off on me, tuning themselves into comprehensive symphonies over time?"

The Campbell Brothers are another family run band. They brought "Sacred Steel" to Cahors - a musical style, that developed in Pentecostal churches in the 1930s, where the Gospel was preached. Pedal steel guitars are the characteristic instruments used here. The Campbell Brothers actually blended gospel, blues and powerful electric rock.

After about an hour Shakura S'Aida joined the Campbell Brothers.

Polyglot Shakura is not only a Award winning vocalist, but communicating in English, French and even Swiss-German, she was the important anchorwoman over the days and nights of the festival.

It’s hard to keep up with Amir Fallah’s rapid-fire stylistic shifts, but his ability to forge an individual identity by absorbing the polyglot visual din of the contemporary art world reflect his roots in the accelerated metabolism of graffiti culture.

is the capital of Belgium and hosts the headquarters of the European Union (EU). It is also the largest urban area in Belgium, comprising 19 municipalities, including the municipality of the City of Brussels, which is the de jure capital of Belgium, in addition to the seat of the French Community of Belgium and of the Flemish Community.

Brussels has grown from a 10th-century fortress town founded by a descendant of Charlemagne into a metropolis of more than one million inhabitants. The metropolitan area has a population of over 1.8 million, making it the largest in Belgium.

Since the end of the Second World War, Brussels has been a main center for international politics. Hosting principal EU institutions as well as the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the city has become the polyglot home of numerous international organisations, politicians, diplomats and civil servants.

Although historically Dutch-speaking, Brussels became increasingly French-speaking over the 19th and 20th centuries. Today a majority of inhabitants are native French-speakers, and both languages have official status. Linguistic tensions remain, and the language laws of the municipalities surrounding Brussels are an issue of considerable controversy in Belgium.

Khazrati Imam is named after Kaffal Shashi (Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Ismail al-Kaffal al-Kabir as-Shashi, also known as Abu Bakr as-Shashi) 904-979, who was born into a family of locksmiths (kaffal means locksmith), became renowned as a spiritual successor to the hadith scholar Muhammad al-Bukhari (810-870); a poet, polyglot, and the author of many books on Islamic Law. After studying in Baghdad he finally returned to Tashkent to become the first Tashkent Imam.
