The Lipari Painter is considered Ihe master of the Pictorial style of polychrome ceramic produced in Lipari in the ceramists’ artisan workshops. He worked from 300 to 260 BC.
A characteristic symbol is the "cushion motif” that is an ovoid shape (fruit or egg) from which laurel branches span out. The scenes on the vases are characterized by the richness of the colours and by the composition of the figures in space. Some of his works may have been inspired by the wall painting of the Hellenistic period.

Much more spectacular in person, this picture and none I took shows it properly. Reminds me of a Jurassic park scene. The little holes in the ground are where large ice chunks fell from the glacier when they receded , back in the ice age. Also, large rocks littered the ground and they were also left behind by the glaciers.
After our white-knuckle drive along the steep sides of Polychrome Mountain, we stopped for a break at the overlook.
I saw several wildflowers near the road, and managed to get some photos. I started out by focusing on the white flower you see at the bottom, but became fascinated by the purple flowers that were in the "background".

Ca' d'Oro, Venice, Italy -
One of the palaces on the Grand Canal in Venice, this house was built between 1428 and 1430. It owes its name to the gilt and polychrome external decorations which once adorned its walls, epitomising the Venetian Gothic style.
Its last owner and saviour Baron Giorgio Franchetti had acquired it in 1894. Following extensive restoration to its former glory (including the reconstruction of the stairway), it is now open to the public as the "Galleria Giorgio Franchetti".
