From red moon rising: "In order to call our independent minds and self-satisfied souls back to a place of spiritual intimacy and dependency, God must make our numb hearts begin to feel again...But there can be no movement in our lives until we are confronted with the reality of our current state."

365 days project : Day 314

Taken on 28th January 2012 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. It was a good day to experiment with my polarising filter. I was amazed to see a similar image posted to google maps in the very same location I took this photo. The photo upload is as-is and has not been subjected to any fiddling in a photo editing tool.

This was part of a test of several iPhone photo apps. See the set for the rest of the results.

Polarize is probably the easiest, though most limited, of the apps I tested in this set. It is one touch and it adds the filter, cropping and the polaroid-type frame. You cannot control any of it. But, it often looks pretty good! It also allows you to write short text on the bottom part of the frame, mimicking a black magic marker.

I'm getting ready to stop using Polarize, but not yet sure exactly which app to use for my "Daily Polaroid" shot. I think I'm leaning towards PictureShow, but they don't have the more traditional Polaroid frame that the other two apps have.

I also like having the ability to easily add the text and the frame, so that eliminates a few other apps.

Polarize is not going to get updated, and creates files with unusable resolution for anything other than viewing on your phone, but I've always liked the tone/vibrance of the image.

Polaroid Instant Cam allows you to move/scale the picture so you get a bit of control over what part of the full image will show up inside the frame, but you have no control over text size, or the "tone" of the image. Resolution isn't full, but bigger than version 1.0 of the app.

PictureShow has a vast number of cool features so you can get far more than just the Polaroid-ish look. I played with the setting to try to get it as close as I could to the Polarize look. I really wish it had a levels slider so I could adjust the black level of the image, as well as hue/saturation. Maybe that will go in the next version. It also exports at full resolution.

Thanks for the shades..MOM

NO editing was done to this photo at all. I used two Polarized filters and when turned just right I get crazy blues. I use it every now and then when I am feeling blue.
