APOCALYPSE 6000 Points

Bitter Melodifestivalen runner-up YOHIO provides the points from the host nation.

This is a photograph from the annual Rathcoffey GAA 10KM and 7.5KM Road Race, Fun Run, and Walk which was held in Rathcoffey, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Saturday 8th February 2014 at 11:00. This race event is in conjunction with Console Ireland, the National Suicide Charity (www.console.ie/). About 300 people took part in the two events. Despite the recent very stormy wet weather experienced in Ireland the weather conditions for the race were reasonably good. There was mild temperatures but at various points in the race route participants had to deal with a very strong head-wind. Nonetheless the race was enjoyed by everyone involved. The race begins at Rathcoffey GAA and goes out on to the road taking a right turn into Rathcoffey village itself. The race then follows the R408 towards Maynooth. The route heads for Ladychapel before turning towards Smithstown (goo.gl/maps/W5Kzf) and Johninstown rejoining the village at (goo.gl/maps/l7oEP) and returning to the GAA Clubhouse. The final 2KM of both races sees the participants return to the GAA club on the same 2KM as the start of the races. Rathcoffey is a small rural village which is easily accessible from it's larger Kildare town neighbours of Clane, Kilcock, and Maynooth. Rathcoffey GAA Club provided excellent facilities for the Race Headquarters and Start/Finish area which can be viewed on Google Streetview [goo.gl/maps/MtTpg]. The race also benefited from great support from athletes from the local GAA clubs in North Kildare.

Congratulations to all in the Rathcoffey GAA club and the local community. This is a very well organised event with every detail attended to for race participants. There are refreshments, showers, and changing areas provided inside the main hall. The route is a flat fast rural country roads route and the event is gaining popularity with every passing year. Well done to all.

We have a large set of photographs from today's event including both the start and the finish. The full set is available on Flickr at www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157640651922944/

Our only "cost" is our request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us.

If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

A set of old points on the Dockyard spur line from Inverkeithing. Despite having not been used for nearly 20 years and very overgrown, the line's status remains 'active' with signalling etc still in place. This old set of points were far enough along the line towards Jamestown that they may have pre-dated the reconfiguration of the old North Queensferry branch line following the Beeching Report to become the access line to what was at, that time, HM Dockyard, Rosyth. This photo was taken through the adjacent fence, incidentally.

It amazes me that people go ape-shit when we score 100 points. For a Big-Mac. Not as bad as the damn Dunkin' Donuts race though.

2 late goals in added time cost Longridge the 3 points today. Longridge took in a half time lead of 2-0 with goals from Danny Wilks and Stu Vasey. Vaseys goal was contested that it did not cross the line but i have added the unfocused image showing that it had.

After spending all week in front of the computer, I decided to take yesterday afternoon off to enjoy the beautiful weather at Brazos Bend State Park. This feathered guy is probably the largest Heron I've ever seen. I just stood there and watched him for about 15 minutes.

Five Points marks the intersection of Marietta Street, Decatur Street, Peachtree Street and Edgewood Avenue. Even before all of that, it was the intersection of two Indian trails.

In the top photo, the base of a water tower can be seen on the right hand side. That tower is part of the old artesian well system that provided Atlanta with drinking water. The system components were made almost entirely of wood, including the pipes.

Top Points is normally used for the steam locomotive hauled trains to reverse the locomotive for the climb to Clarence, or the descent to Bottom Points. When the tour is operated by the railmotors, all that is required is for the driver to change ends on the platform. Passengers are still encouraged to alight the train and take in the impressive view however!

POINTS® Value: 5

Servings: 8

Preparation Time: 18 min

Cooking Time: 40 min

Level of Difficulty: Easy

This rich, creamy mac and cheese was a shoo-in for this week's "Family-Friendly" recipe series.

Ingredients

12 oz uncooked macaroni, elbow-type

1/2 cup fat-free sour cream

12 oz fat-free evaporated milk

8 oz low-fat cheddar or colby cheese

1 Tbsp Dijon mustard

1/4 tsp table salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/8 tsp ground nutmeg

2 Tbsp dried bread crumbs

2 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Cook pasta according to package directions without added fat or salt; drain and transfer to a large bowl. While pasta is still hot, stir in sour cream; set aside.

Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until tiny bubbles appear just around the edges (known as scalding). Reduce heat to low, add cheese and simmer until cheese melts, stirring constantly with a wire whisk, about 2 minutes; remove from heat and stir in mustard, salt, pepper and nutmeg.

Add cheese mixture to pasta; mix well. Transfer to a 4-quart casserole dish.

Combine bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese; sprinkle over pasta.

Bake until top is golden, about 30 minutes. Yields about 1 cup per serving.

Before Points West Living Wetaskiwin opened its doors in July 2018, General Manager Tamara Thomas was dreaming of music. A musician herself, Tamara knows well how music can resonate with people at any stage of life.

Tamara’s vision and research led her to apply for a grant from the federal government’s New Horizons Seniors Program to purchase the tools to build a music program for residents of PWL Wetaskiwin. Her application was accepted, and the community is now home to a baby grand piano, a stage, and a sound system.
