The Road / Sotheby Road
From Autumn 2006 to Spring 2009 I took a photo each day on my cycle to work.
Looking back, I can't remember the original motive and think it was part documentary fascination, and something to do with challenging myself to keep up a pointless act - an enforced OCD - to join a similar project featuring my bike that began a few years before.
The rules (I think a good OCD needs rules) were that I had to take the picture no matter the weather, no matter who was looking, no matter how much of a rush I was in, and only on days that I was actually going to work.
A little way into the project, with no idea what I was going to do with the images, I came across the work of Jason Salavon and instantly envied his 100 Special Moments series, wishing I had though of the idea.
The technique itself is nothing special, just images with transparencies layered over one another, and a quick experiment later, I had produced my first layer test featuring Sotheby Road images, followed then by a few with the bike images, and that was that.
When I moved house this year I released myself from the project. I moved somewhere nearby, but Sotheby Road would have been a detour, and while the OCD had gotten strong, it was actually nice to end it. Cleansing. Healthy. It was time to move on, in more way than one.
Looking now at this forward facing journey, I find it hard not to post rationalise it. A metaphor for the abstract nature of moving through time. Watching it repeat. Individual says blurring into larger passages. Always moving forward. Unstoppably forward. Only leaving things to look back on.

Ive seen quite a few interesting level crossings on my travels but none as pointless as this on at Sherburn in Elmet Station on the Dearne Valley line.
Once again Wood Green gets closed off. Pain in the arse having to walk round the back roads to get to work! I hear 29's were going over Ally Pally while this was all going on as less bends to deal with, and 144's seen on Mayes Road! All very fun
People panic buying fuel are the ones CAUSING the shortages at the moment. Valley, Anglesey, one station closed, the other having police outside to control the traffic.

Pointless maybe, but without this photo I would have never realized that I had three pots of yogurt on the go until it was too late. Also of note is the bloody annoying bottle of HP sauce which attempts to hurl itself out of the door every time I open it. Note to self: relocate HP sauce and consolidate yogurt.
Can't decide which one I like!!! Took a trip to the Pine Barrens (in South Jersey) with three of my favorite people in the world. I wonder if this is how the birds see Tony looking at them?

Possibly unsafe due to how hard it is to enter and exit -- starts with a slightly raised kerb at the wrong angle (point towards the Garda Station entrance and not the track) and ends at a pedestrian crossing (at the crossing, not before of after it)
Pointless due to it’s short distance.
Obstructive as it slows cyclists and makes it near impossible to turn right.
IT'S A MINION. From Despicable Me. I got it at six flags last week. Haha. You can see my toms tan line too, kind of. Is it me or do my arms look way more tan than my legs. Awkward. A Hannah Montana music video is playing on Disney Channel right now, and honestly this video is just plain random and I don't understand it. This description is making me seem so much like a little kid. Golly. Yes, I still watch Disney Channel. I'M NOT ASHAMED! Okay, enough. Well today I woke up and watched the World Cup Final game. I wasn't way into it though and didn't really care who won. It was really long though, gosh. Then after it was over I got ready to go to bible study. So I went there and it was fun. Then I came home and just got in a downer mood. Which is one reason why I didn't post a picture on time today. Sorry. You know how you just get in those moods sometimes? Yep, just one of those days.

Probably donated… god I hope so. I also think they could have gotten something more useful like actual medical equipment AND a cheaper flatscreen TV (when this came out it was, uh, pricey).
Plus, it wasn't even ON. Didn't check if it was even hooked up… I should have. :)
With online classes, there is no need for busy work. Professors are not longer forced to find activities for every day of class. Instead, students are able to focus on the material that really matters. It is up to the student to decide if "busy work" matters or not.
