Point Fermin, named after a Franciscan friar, sits at the southernmost tip of Los Angeles. The lighthouse was built in response to a growing need for a lighthouse to mark the growing harbor in San Pedro Bay. The Victorian structure was completed in 1874, and lit on December 15 - the same day as its twin at Point Hueneme.
The first and last lighthouse keepers at Point Fermin were women. Mary and Helen Smith kept the light from 1874 to 1882. Thelma Austin assumed her father's position as keeper in 1925 when both of her parents passed away.
The Point Cabrillo Lighthouse stands on the Northern California Mendocino Coast.
This lighthouse and its Third Order Fresnel lens have served as an active aid to maritime navigation since its lamp was first lit on June 10, 1909 - 110 years to the day before this picture was taken.
According to the nautical charts, its light flashes six times every minute, and is visible twenty-two miles out to sea.
I used a KITE to fly the camera.

Point Reyes (about 30 miles from San Francisco) is final frontier of land before the Pacific. It juts out about 15 miles from California coastline and is the windiest place on the Pacific coast. It was the first time, I saw the great Pacific and stood admiring the calm ocean.
Lighthouse at point reyes can be seen in the backdrop.

Point Wilson Lighthouse at Fort Worden State Park, Port Townsend, Washington. Built in 1913 by the United States Lighthouse Service, its height of 51 feet is the tallest in Puget Sound, marking the entrance to Admiralty Inlet. The lighthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Washington State Heritage Register. Still an important navigational aid today, a computer located at the Coast Guard Air Station at Port Angeles monitors the light, which was automated in 1976.
Went for a (long) walk to the lighthouse at Spurn Point, only just got there before the sun went down!
