1993 Dennis Dart/Plaxton Pointer new to Badgerline in 1993. This shows her at Bridgwater bus station on a Sunday in 2003/4 showing some confusion. She was allocated to Taunton then back to Bath, then Weston. Carries Southern National fleetname on Badgerline livery and route number 163 (a Badgerline working). Badgerline/City Line magnetic card validator has been removed.

Immature Female Eastern Towhee. I had my macro lens on and she was pretty close, so I took a few pics of her.

Arriva Kent & Surrey 1606 (GN04 UCW) heads to turn around via Locke Way while on route 437 duties, while sister 1607 (GN04 UCX) approaches the stand with a 28 to Guildford.

Shortly afterwards, both buses chased each other down the High Street having set off for their respective destinations.

From 15th December 2014, route 437 will be diverted inbound to Woking via Maybury Arch and Maybury Road, to terminate at the station (thus approaching from the background, rather than the way 1606 is facing).

Oriental Road and the Community Hospital will no longer be served towards Woking, but will still be so on outbound journeys.

Pedantry corner:

Like 1629 and 1630, I note that 1606 has had its back end tweaked, and no longer carries the yellow stripe around the back (though still does the front - as does 1607).

Arriva Midlands 2264 Y264YBC Dennis Dart SLF Plaxton Pointer B29F in Burton upon Trent on route 3 to Winshill on 27 June 2015.

Pictured arriving at Showbus 2021, held at the Hertfordshire County Showground is MX56 HYA, an Alexander-Dennis Dart/Alexander-Dennis Pointer 2 B39F bus in the fleet of Diamond West Midlands. It had been new to SM Coaches, Harlow, Essex in October 2006, passing to Reading Transport in April 2008. It joined Cen Group (Central Buses), Perry Barr, West Midlands in May 2012, transferring to Diamond West Midlands under Rotala Group ownership in February 2018.

All three Dennis / Plaxton Mini Pointer Dart's have now been delivered to York following a repaint at Thornton Brothers in Ashington for use on a new service starting next week. YJ04 LXN, LXP and LXX were formerly with Lancashire United but new to Keighley and District. These Darts will operate new routes 22 and 23, branded as the Little Explorers; the routes combine York's Cathedral Connection 142 / 143 with Harrogate's 56 route to travel all the way from York to Knaresborough and Harrogate via Ripon (except for a couple of early morning and late afternoon journeys which will be shortened X22 and X23 services running along the A59).

Seen here at the depot alongside one of the Citysightseeing Leyland Olympian Alexander RH open topper G336 CSG which could be withdrawn by the end of the year, as three will be after arrival of Dennis Trident Plaxton Presidents converted to open top and electric traction - a recent change is that Y668DRA will be one allocated here. If necessary, I could see 665 also helping out on this route until it is withdrawn and sold later this year.

The darts are being hidden away at the back of the yard so as to hide the full livery until the service starts... On paper the service commences on May 29th, however this is a sunday and the service doesn't run on sundays. I don't know what the plan is for the 30th as it is a bank holiday, however if a saturday timetable is adopted then these will be out and about - otherwise their first day will be Tuesday May 31st.

I was impressed to see one of a number of new VDL SB200CS-based Wright Pulsar 2s for Arriva North West's Chester depot this afternoon on type training duties. Here, 3143 (CX12 DSZ) is seen at Chester Bus Exchange where it prepares to start type acclimatisation. This process involves showing each driver the main controls and basic type information such as fuel filler location and emergency engine stop, followed by a short drive to acclimatise the driver to the type in question. The new Pulsars are branded for the Blacon Pointer local services within Chester. Thanks to Wrexham driver training instructor Ray Simmons for allowing me on board and providing a demonstration of the vehicle.

It was very foggy so I thought I'd have fun with a laser pointer.

These things can travel far :-)

Arriva London North Dennis Dart SLF 10.2m/Plaxton Pointer DPP431, R431 COO [EC] on route 34 in Great North Road, Barnet. 1 February 2002.

The worst thing about the single deckers on the 34 were that the bus was to single door layout. The route is busy at most times of the day and evening with constant on & off loadings. The dual door ADL's from route 444 that made odd workings on the 34 seemed to run more efficiently at most locations were the bus would get packed. It meant people at the back of the bus wishing to alight didn't hold the bus up for a minute or two until they could get to the front door. The route has been converted to double deck with these buses cascaded to Arriva London South.

Well, Maybe Not, But She Points as Well as Any Dog!

Cami is a mixed breed, a mongrel, a mutt. Allegedly, she is an Australian Cattle Dog cross, with what we have no idea. Guesses range from Hound to Beagle to Jack Russell Terrier (hey, it happens), but whatever her parentage, she's a beauty and a sweetheart.

She doesn't bark, except in her sleep. She also howls, but again, only when she's in Slumberland -- does she dream of being a Wolf?

Pullman Travel Dennis Dart SLF Plaxton Pointer 2 X372 CUY on a school service through the Tumbles on 23rd October, 2003. It was originally operated by Midland Red West.

"cuatro días se le pasaron en imaginar que nombre le pondría... y así después de muchos nombres que formó borró y quitó, añadió, deshizo y tornó a hacer en su memoria e imaginación, al fin le vino a llamar Rocinante, nombre a su parecer alto, sonoro y significativo de lo que había sido cuando fue rocín, antes de lo que ahora era, que era antes y primero de todos los rocines del mundo"

Some who read this will know that I have packed in my sales job after 28 years in the fishing tackle business.

I am gradually putting together a dog walking business and this is one of my charges.

Brambles is an elderly pointer and she does love her walkies. We walk about three miles together, five times a week.

This healthy southern Ohio buck was more interested in defending his territory against agressors during the rut than he was in avoiding my camera. He and a large 6-pointer were battling over rights to the same doe.
