This is a retrospective reprise of a photo that I took in November 2005 in Richmond Park (SW London, 12 miles from St.Paul's Cathedral). I've used a combination of Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Neat Image plugin to bring out more shadow detail, clean up noise and addback some vibrancy that was in the original film transparency.

Richmond Park is the biggest (2,500 acres / 1011 hectares) and oldest park within the Greater London area founded during the reign of King Edward (1272-1307). It has a rich variety of fauna and flora, including deer. It is one of the few public parks within London, where one can ride a horse.

Richmond Park has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a National Nature Reserve.

I feel this deserves a much larger view.

Well well, I invested 9,90€ for infrared plugins for lightroom. Looks a bit like infrared, but I'm not fully satisfied, far from real infrared picture!

This is the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn over Pagham Harbour Sunday evening. The closest approach is Monday evening the 21st but it was not much different this evening. Also the weather forecast for Monday evening the 21st is cloud all day at least for Southern England. To the naked eye it looks like one star but this was taken with an 85mm lens spitting the 2 planets.

A conjunction of these 2 planets happens every 20 years but the last time it was this close was 1623. The picture was taken at 5.03 on the evening of the 20 December and the planets set to the SW at 6.00pm so not a lot of time to get them after sunset

The picture was taken on a tripod with a Sony A550 with a Minolta 75-300mm lens at 85 mm. I took 3 shots for HDR processed in Photomatix using tone balancer for a more natural look. In Photoshop I used Topaz Clarity plugin for more detail and Topaz Denoise.

This is only a partial shot of IC 1805, the Heart Nebula, because the scope I took this with has a very narrow fields of view and the Heart Nebula is a very large object. So large it covers an area about four times that of the diameter of the full moon.

This is the result of 642 ten second images processed in PixInsight, NIK collection plugin for Photoshop, Topaz sharpening, and ProDigital Software's Star Spikes 4. I actually took 695 images but by the time the Weighted Batch Preprocessing of PixInsight was finished 53 of those had been rejected.

This nebula gets its name from its heart shape ... the top of which you can see the start of on the left side of the photo. A Google search will show you what the full image looks like.

The Nebula is located about 7500 light years away in the Perseus Arm of the Galaxy in the constellation Cassiopeia ... the group of stars that looks like a W in the sky.

I have been a little quiet on the Flickr front for a month or so now and I apologise to all my contacts; I will try and catch up on your posts soon.

Not only have I been busy/stressed with work, but I was also written off for a few weeks with Flu; proper flu, not just man flu!! ;-)

After I recovered, I took a few days away with the great Noel Clegg to Northumberland and joined him and Doug Chinnery in Whitby on their workshop earlier this month. Working with Noel was inspirational and it really forced me to take an inward look at my own workflow and vision. It was great to be with someone who was so stoked about the light and the locations as well as to be out shooting with someone so hungry for images. Noel is a real perfectionist in his imagery, both at capture and during processing and it really forced me to up my game.

Here is the first image I plan to post from the trip of a well know and recently re-constructed outfall on the North East coast. I know this is not the most original of images, but I hope that I have injected some of my own style into the finished image.

Thank you for viewing my image(s); it really does mean a lot to me and I hope the visit has been worth while to you. Please do not leave awards or ask me to join any groups without making even a small comment. It really does make a difference. :-)

To the regular followers of my work: Thank you for your support and kind comments; you guys really are a credit to the Flickr community.

Sooooo... It's been a while since I posted a nighttime shot. I have a few new images (from 2020), so I'll start things off kind of slow and at the beginning. I shot this in January in the evening just after twilight during what I like to call the "Milky Way Preseason" (the months that you can shoot the Milky Way but not the core).

"Andromeda Farmhouse"

Part of our Milky Way leads to the house and our sister Andromeda is just to the left (upper third).

Shot with my Fuji X-T2 and Samyang 12mm f/2.0 @ f/2.0, ISO 3200; (5) 15 second shots + (1) dark frame, 3800K WB. Light is ambient from a nearby dairy farm (no additional lighting added). Stacked in Sequator with final edits in Photoshop using a few plugins and actions (Topaz DeNoise, Clarity, Detail, DxO Viewpoint 3, Blake Rudis 5 Tone Heat Map).

I walked the Georgian Trail at Craigleith this morning to take photos of the lilac stands that line the trail. I was drawn to the sight of this bike propped on the bench while the owner explored the lilacs. It looked like a postcard, so that was my starting point in processing the photo. After basic adjustments in Lightroom 4, I used the pastel preset in Nik's Color Efex Pro 4 plugin, added a lightened vignette, and finally a subtle border.
