A summer evening in the beautiful meadows of the Hamme river near Worpswede.
I didn´t expect the sun to set that early because of the clouds which started to get visible when the sun moved to the horizone.
But does it always have to be a sunset over the lake?
I played around a little bit in GIMP and used quite a lot filters provided by the G'MIC plugin.
To pitch up saturation this strong is not my style usually, but I start to like it...
Have a great weekend everybody.
Stay safe.

Captured at: Bayard Cutting Arboretum's William Wolkoff Dahlia Garden in Great River, NY.
Pictured here is a little dahlia that was chock full of personality... It stood proudly in its space in the garden and managed to silently scream for every visitor's attention. This little bloom flashed some bold red and yellow hues, and appeared to be like a tiny sun shining amidst its peers.
This dahlia, along with many others, were on display at this year's edition of the Bayard Cutting Arboretum dahlia garden. This is one of Bayard's signature events, and runs annually from early September to late October (or when the first frost of the season arrives).
Bayard's garden offers dahlias in all different shapes, colors, and sizes and is home to over 1,300 dahlias with 300 varieties. These flowers can be as large as “dinner-plates” or small as tiny balls with many sizes in-between.

"Fiery Dahlia" is a non-HDR image that was processed using a combination of ACR, Photoshop and various Topaz Labs plugins (Adjust, Clean, Denoise, Glow, Impression and Texture Effects).
Captured in: Carthage, IL.
Pictured here is a view of a beautiful old-fashioned style barn located in Southwestern Illinois, which is considered to be in the Heartland (or Midwest) of the United States.
The shot was captured on a recent trip to visit with family, and I made sure to find a little time for some photography of the area around my wife's uncle's farm. This particular barn had an almost a Norman Rockwell-esque appearance, so I tried to take a little bit of inspiration from those works for the processing.

The Western Ghats, is a mountain range that runs 1,600 km (990 mi) parallel to the western coast of the Indian peninsula, traversing the states of Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. The area is one of the world's ten "hottest biodiversity hotspots." It has over 7,402 species of flowering plants, 1,814 species of non-flowering plants, 139 mammal species, 508 bird species, 179 amphibian species, 6,000 insects species, and 290 freshwater fish species. It is likely that many undiscovered species live in the Western Ghats. At least 325 globally threatened species occur in the Western Ghats. The biodiversity found here rivals that of the Amazon Basin.

I had many people mail and ask what I used , so thought I would post .........and you get a 30 day free trial..............great tool.......
I'm just playing with Aperture and plugins and thought I would try to make something of this frame that is one of three I used to create the HDR (see comment 3 below). Naturally it's the frame that was the "best" overall exposure, but in unedited form is fairly unspectacular.
It shows what can be done with more sophisticated editing tools when you have the RAW. And this was from my old 350D.

The place is Gavi, a beautiful forest area encircled by tea plantations and picturesque valleys. It lies in the buffer zone of the well known Periyar Tiger Reserve that is situated near the Mullaperiyar Dam. If you take the trouble to trek up to the highest peak around, you end up with a view like this, definitely worth the trouble.
