Kasper Nauwelaerts, developer of the Safari Tidy plugin, has been developing a Microformats plugin for Safari. I emailed him last year on the off chance that he might fancy having a go! Cheeky, but it worked!

This is currently alpha, but works really well, and vcards and events were added really easily. Hopefully a beta will be out soon!

The grass mod is finally finished. Ideal setting is imingrasssize=70 for a sweet spot between density and performance, but go as low as 50 for better coverage or as high as 100 for more performance.

I'll add the link to the download shortly.

Finally got the forest grass looking how I want it for the most part. This is at imingrasssize=50 which will be the 'screenarchery' setting. Lumen ENB used in this round.

I love playing with this filter!

This is imingrasssize=80 by the way.

On a side note, I've always used Morning Star and never First Seed, but I think this preset is now my new favourite.

Map done entirely in QGIS with Print Composer.

I'm currently working on a QGIS plugin to create Indexed Grids (now available, called 'Create Indexed Vector Grid'). This is similar to the existing Vector Grids function, except that each square is also labelled with a spreadsheet-style coordinate like A1, F3 etc. It also creates label cells along the top and down the side (here these have a dark blue background). You could also do this cell naming manually, the following technique would be the same.

Did a spatial join from points of interest (Public Houses) to the created grid, so that each pub knows the name of the grid square that it falls into.

In the map composer I used Attribute Tables to create the lookup table at the bottom of the map. The index was split into four columns by using additional frames.

Each pub is also numbered (using $rownum) to disambiguate pubs that are clustered together. There's no logic to the numbering, as it's sorted by osm_id.

Some pubs were nudged manually to prevent any overlap from hiding the numbers inside. Street name labels were also manually moved and rotated.

Also removed any "The " prefixes in the pub name as people will probably expect The White Hart to appear under "W".

Using data copyright OpenStreetMap contributors. Approximate extent in OSM.

See also a similar map of the same area with slightly different cartographic challenges.

Remarkable, what Gimp w/o any plugins can already do just off the shelf on a compressed JPG alone.

Over the years I’ve noticed a merging of visual aesthetics and user aesthetics, both conscious and unconscious, when I build websites using WordPress. A few PHP tweaks invariably lead to grander changes and complete site overhauls, always driven toward a need to keep the site simultaneously search engine friendly and user friendly. Often, these tweaks take the form of WordPress plugins.

Tried to reproduce the film square format look. Using bleach bypass pro & Process fx plugins, also edited with lightroom & CS5.5. Added vignettes, split tones, film rebate, film grain and more.

Playing with the Rays plugin ... It is fun to use, but not as easy as I thought. Needed some masks and some toning.

Result: View On Black.

Lessons learned:

- the plugin needs some help with the light sources (masks)

- shadows are cold, lightrays are warm

- shadows are desaturated

- lightrays sometimes show dancing dust (like smoke)

- lightrays converge :-) (they are not parallel in this case)
