The crematorium at Auschwitz I camp, was first put into operation in September 1940. Bodies were shoved inside by means of a device shown in the photo above. The ovens were deep enough to hold two bodies, placed end to end. They were in operation until July 1943.

The domestic Goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) is a subspecies of goat domesticated from the wild goat of southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. The goat is a member of the family Bovidae and is closely related to the sheep as both are in the goat-antelope subfamily Caprinae. There are over 300 distinct breeds of goat. Goats are one of the oldest domesticated species, and have been used for their milk, meat, hair, and skins over much of the world. In 2011, there were more than 924 million live goats around the globe, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. Female goats are referred to as "does" or "nannies", intact males as "bucks", "billies", or "rams" and their offspring are "kids". Castrated males are "wethers". Goat meat from younger animals is called "kid" or cabrito (Spanish), and from older animals is simply known as "goat" or sometimes called chevon (French), or in some areas "mutton" (which more often refers to adult sheep meat). The Modern English word goat comes from Old English gāt "she-goat, goat in general", which in turn derives from Proto-Germanic *gaitaz (cf. Dutch/Icelandic geit, German Geiß, and Gothic gaits), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰaidos meaning "young goat" (cf. Latin haedus "kid"), itself perhaps from a root meaning "jump" (assuming that Old Church Slavonic zajęcǐ "hare", Sanskrit jihīte "he moves" are related). To refer to the male, Old English used bucca (giving modern buck) until ousted by hegote, hegoote in the late 12th century. Nanny goat (females) originated in the 18th century and billy goat (for males) in the 19th. Goats are among the earliest animals domesticated by humans. The most recent genetic analysis confirms the archaeological evidence that the wild Bezoar ibex of the Zagros Mountains are the likely origin of almost all domestic goats today. Neolithic farmers began to herd wild goats for easy access to milk and meat, primarily, as well as for their dung, which was used as fuel, and their bones, hair, and sinew for clothing, building, and tools. The earliest remnants of domesticated goats dating 10,000 years before present are found in Ganj Dareh in Iran. Goat remains have been found at archaeological sites in Jericho, Choga Mami Djeitun and Çayönü, dating the domestication of goats in Western Asia at between 8000 and 9000 years ago. Studies of DNA evidence suggests 10,000 years BP as the domestication date. Historically, goat hide has been used for water and wine bottles in both traveling and transporting wine for sale. It has also been used to produce parchment.

An old fox one that's been on before but please read this if you have the time, it's horrifying but they need to be caught. This is close to where we live and I've had dead cubs dumped to scare me away before, close to home in both respects.
A few days ago near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire a pregnant vixen was found cut in half and her tiny cubs had been ripped from her belly. The image is too graphic for the LACS to show properly but their statement is here on Twitter

Hopefully it will make the local ( and ideally national ) news, it's rumoured the appalling act is connected with the Belvoir Hunt but obviously that's not been proven.
Please share this if possible if you're on FB or Twitter, people have been caught many times through the power of social media, it is possible.
Your attention please! BNSF H2 painted AC4400CW #5653 is a DPU on H-GFDBRC headed east towards the BRC Clearing Yard!
Anyway yeah don’t turn that into a meme please and thank you. As of recently the iconic red lettered signs like this one next to this H2 GE Unit are slowly but surely being phased out in favor of more “modern” departure boards with TV screens showing the next train arrivals. It may not matter to some but with new technologies being on the rise every day, it won’t be long before we got robots at the controls of Gevos lol

A rather unfortunate incident with the conveyor of the ballast cleaner in a tunnel on the main trunk saw nearly 2 kilometers of overhead and roof supports ripped out, causing an unplanned maintenance window for our fleet of electric locomotives.

I had a chance to get into the old Fairfield Hills State Hospital in Newtown Ct. today. It's something I've been wanting to do for quite some time but I wanted to get permission instead of sneaking in and getting thrown out. Well I got that permission and had the place to myself for a few hours. The facility is pretty much stripped out and will be torn down someday so it was very cool to roam around and feel the enormity of the facility. This was taken in Canaan House which was used for patient treatment including electric shock therapy, hydrotherapy, psychosurgery and frontal lobotomies just to name a few plus it housed the patients. If you want to read up on this place click here.

Point Cabrillo, the sandstone headland on which the Point Cabrillo Light lies, was named in 1870 by the United States Geological Survey after the Portuguese explorer João Rodrigues Cabrilho.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Point Cabrillo Lighthouse is in northern California, just south of the community of Caspar. The lighthouse was constructed by the Lindgren Company beginning in 1908, and began operation in 1909. Its first light keeper was Wilhelm Baumgartner, who held the position until 1923. In 1935, an air diaphone supertyfone sound signal was installed.
The light is only 9.8 m (32 ft) above the ground, but because of the height of the headlands it stands 25 m (81 ft) above sea level. It was originally lit by a kerosene lamp and turned by a clockwork mechanism but this was replaced by an electric light and motor in 1935. The present light uses a single 1000-watt electric filament, the light from which is magnified by a factor of one thousand by the lens, and spins once every 40 seconds producing a flash every 10 seconds.
The restored lighthouse was opened to the public in August 2001, and used in filming the Warner Bros 2001 drama film The Majestic.
