The most important feature of this building is the glazed tile work with which its whole exterior is covered and which has given it its present name. The flat mural surfaces is panelled, and stylized floral designs with borders are depicted upon them in a wide variety of colours and shades as blue, yellow, green orange and white. This is mosaic of glazed tiles. The patterns are made up of thousands of tiny pieces of tiles skillfully embedded into the plaster in the tessellated style. Each flower or leaf being presented by a separate tile. The brick surface was first overlaid with a two inch thick coat of plaster, upon which a finer coating of one inch thickness was done. The design was traced upon this upper plaster when in a plasic state, after which tiles 5/8th of an inch thickness were bedded into it, according to the design. Kashan in Persia was the home of this art, the tiles were therefore called ´Kashi´. Halla in Sindh soon became the centre of glazed-ware in India. The potters were known as ´kashigar´ and the art itself became famous as ´kashikari´. The technique of its preparation remained the same. It consisted of three parts: plaster called ´khamir´, glass called ´kanch´ and ásthar´, put between them. It was a very complicated process in which various chemicals, sand stones and other ingredients were used, through an elaborate system of heating and fusing in specially built kilns. This ensured the glazed-tiles and their lustre to last for a thousand years. This is also why this art has died out.

Just in time for World Toy Camera Day, a review of the twenty-dollar special, the Plastic Filmtastic FPP Debonair. This off-the-wall camera is fun, quirky, and easy shot from the hip, with the portrait orientation, 6x4.5 negative size this is the camera that made me love toy cameras.

This is one of the early SON20R hubs, which were later renamed SONDelux; I built it up, then Rich Lesnik tensioned and trued it while he was building another wheel for me. ~ 500 miles max; the blue tint you see is the factory plasic seal.

Dodge Dakota "XV" pkg. It is basically a sport with chrome grille and the front and rear bumper painted the same color as the truck (before only R/T's were like that, sports had black plasic, and SLT had chrome).

Saligo Bay was my favourite beach on Islay.
I spent several hours doing a beach clean-up & collected 5 bin liners full of rubbish- mostly plasic.
Most of the plastic disintigrates well over time and breaks down into very small particles, but I will always have the vision of a dissected Albatross in my mind, with an abdomen full of discarded colourful plastic, that it's parents had fed to it- seen in National Geographic!

10/20/07 365 reject
I was attempting to do a similar photo to the foot photo several weeks (?) ago.... but the backgrounds got in my way.... and I did not realize this until later when I looked at the pictures.... boooo.... so this became a reject... I will try it again later....
However... I did kind of like it for the angles and shadows that showed up as I played with it..... ..... and the plastic bag I had sitting by my front door (that for some reason just had to find its way into my picture) somehow keeps making me think of the movie "American Beauty" (which is one of my favorite movies.... ). And... yes... I know the plastic bag scene has been made fun of endlessly at this point... I know this. But that is the point in that movie when I literally switched from going "umm and why was this recommended to me?" to ... "OK... yep.... I get it.." and the rest of the movie had me from there. So.... my bottom line point... the appearance of the plasic bag accidently in this picture somehow makes me like this picture... quite a bit....
.......along with the dark angle above it (having no idea how or why it is there???)

Should have been magical, early morning. But we were disgusted by the amount of filth and effluent in the water. Sewage, plasic bottles, lumps of polystyrene - it seemed that everything unwanted was thrown into the water. No wonder UNESCO are apparently reconsidering its World Heritage Site status. Why do they desecrate such a special place?

So, I took the training wheels off today and shot my first macro sans autofocus.
This is part of my daughter's snow globe from Disney World. There is little silver and gold Mickey confetti. The plasic globe is pretty scratched, so getting a clear shot was hard. I think I like the hazy look to it, though.

Homemade LEDacle. I soldered The + and - wires to the LED and insulated them with heat shrink. i then glued a plasic-tube collar to the LED (10mm ultrabright) using apoxy resin. The 30cm long copper rod (4mm diameter) is also glued into the collar. The hardest part is wrapping the wires around the LED to finish the look i glued them to the bass of the LED then wrapped (twissled) the wires around. How the hell bleeep labs got a third wire in there i dont know ?
Mei comes out of her inside enclosure to Brenda's call and smells the bowl of apples and pears...Brenda gives her a few pieces and then encourages her to come over to the squeeze cage so they can examine her...it was raining and she was quite jumpy so they couldn't finish...sorry this is so noisy...it was the rain and protective gear!
