In Armenia we were walking along the Dzoraget (Ձորագետ) River in this beautiful gorge lined with waterfalls and I kept hearing this cracking/cruching sound as everyone was walking through some grasses. It was a bunch of plasic bottles. They are quite a few years behind in being ecologically minded. Trash is left just about everywhere you look. Then I saw what looked like water mist from a waterfall up ahead (there were quite a few along this gorge). It was the city dump right in the middle of this scenic gorge.

We got the kids thinking and tried to teach them why it is good not to litter. But one of them made the point "where then do we take it? The wind will just blow it somewhere else."

The bottom the this is only about 50 feet from the river. It felt as if I was the only one hiking by this that actually saw it.

We did get some of the locals working at the camp to make sure the kids picked up their trash and didn't just drop it everywhere. It's a start. Maybe they need someone out of their Armenian history sitting on a horse seeing this with a tear in his eye.

Sanding printed parts makes me think of the future, where plasic print patterns are the new wood grain.

A push pin. It's YELLOW.

A Street vendor was selling all these colorful Necklaces and Bangles near Puri Jagannath Temple. Most of thse are Handicrafted. The bangles are made of of plastic and colored and decorated by hand. The Necklaces were either plasic or wooden beads similarly decorated by hand. Women love these and usually buy a handful as these are pretty inexpensive too :)

I just purchased optics for Lensbaby's "optic swap system." I put the plastic on my Composer today, and honestly was quite frustrated with it. I think I'm missing the point of the plastic, or maybe I'm WAY too uptight. I really love the plastic shots that have a sort of freedom. I ain't anywhere near that.

I do have an idea that may help me loosen up.... So far I've made all my Lensbaby shots with live view, as I have really poor vision. As I can't even focus using live view with the plastic, I'll stick my eye back to the viewfinder. The three pics I uploaded tonight were all focused in live view.

Popularly known as ´Chini-Ka-Rauzah´, owing to its glazed-tile decoration. This is the tomb of Shukrullah Shirazi Afzal Khan´, Vazir of Shah Jehan. He hailed from Shiraz (Iran). Abdul Haq Shirazi entitled Amanat Khan´, the celebrated calligrapher who did the monumental inscriptions of the tomb of Akbar (Sikandara) and later of the Taj Mahal, was his brother. Shukrullah was an extremely learned man and a poet who composed under the pen name Állami´. Jehangir bestowed upon him the title: Áfzal Khan´. He was prince Shah Jehan´s diwan, helped him in his campaigns of Mewar and Deccan. After accession, Shah Jehan made him his vazir and gave him the mansab of 7000/4000.

Shukrullah built his tomb in his lifetime (1628-39) and also a palace in the nearby locality called ´Katra Vazir Khan´. He died in 1639 at Lahore. His body was brought to Agra and interned in this tomb. It was a vast complex with high enclosing walls, a four quartered garden (Char Bagh) and a gateway on the eastern side. There also were, on the riverside, two 3-storeyed octagonal towers and a ghat (quay), 64 feet long and 50 feet wide, of stone masonry between them. Now only one tower and the tomb proper have remained. It is a domed square building of 79 feet side. The central octagonal hall has spacious arched portals on the sides and square rooms at the corners, all interconnected by passages. This hall had been exquisitely painted in rich colours with stylized designs. A gallery rotates around its upper part, overlooking it from the first floor. The tomb is roofed by a double-dome. It is all beick masory, which has been plastered over.

The most important feature of this building is the glazed tile work with which its whole exterior is covered and which has given it its present name. The flat mural surfaces is panelled, and stylized floral designs with borders are depicted upon them in a wide variety of colours and shades as blue, yellow, green orange and white. This is mosaic of glazed tiles. The patterns are made up of thousands of tiny pieces of tiles skillfully embedded into the plaster in the tessellated style. Each flower or leaf being presented by a separate tile. The brick surface was first overlaid with a two inch thick coat of plaster, upon which a finer coating of one inch thickness was done. The design was traced upon this upper plaster when in a plasic state, after which tiles 5/8th of an inch thickness were bedded into it, according to the design. Kashan in Persia was the home of this art, the tiles were therefore called ´Kashi´. Halla in Sindh soon became the centre of glazed-ware in India. The potters were known as ´kashigar´ and the art itself became famous as ´kashikari´. The technique of its preparation remained the same. It consisted of three parts: plaster called ´khamir´, glass called ´kanch´ and ásthar´, put between them. It was a very complicated process in which various chemicals, sand stones and other ingredients were used, through an elaborate system of heating and fusing in specially built kilns. This ensured the glazed-tiles and their lustre to last for a thousand years. This is also why this art has died out.

The building has no pillars, lintels, brackets, chhajjas, chhatris or any other indigenous element. There are no jalis or relief stone carving and is has only a flat mural surface. Prepared by the architect for the display of ´kashikari´ by the ´kashigar´. Chini-Ka-Rauzah, the tomb of a polished and cultured Iranian, who served India as an Iranian monument standing on the Indian soil. In its class it ranks among the best. While such representative buildings as the picture wall of the Lahore Fort (1612-19), Wazir Khan´s Mosque (1634) and Asaf Khan´s Tomb (1641-45) are at Lahore, it is the only specimen of this marvellous Iranian art at Agra and in the Braja region. It marks the climax of Iranian influence on Mughal court, culture and art.

I have spent the day up working on the Bedford. The M.O.T. is booked for Friday. However, while test runs around the yard/compound where she is shows good drive, steering is OK (though P.A.S. was not used in 1982!), and brakes work (I accidently pressed too hard once followed by the "Clunk" of equipment jolting forward), a windscreen washer jet has packed up, and more worringly the nearside dipped headlight refuses to work (Sidelight and main beam work so its not the new bulb). Aside from the glass (I have put some plasic over that, the only other headache is the exhaust tailpipe is a bit loose, and the exhasust bracket I got this morning wont place on. However, I took this shot as I was leaving near 6pm tonight and thourght the shot looked nice. The reflecting signs seem odd to see like that.

making some denim art on a pair of black overalls for my 5 y.o. granddaughter. using the JACQUARD heat set acrylics and the plasic syringe to do the outlines and then a small hard brush to paint the colors into the fabric. a swarovski metal slider with crystal sewn in for the eye on the front leg.

For sale at the Vancouver Airport. Each of these plastic bags contains ONE giant spicy pickle. Have you ever eaten one of these? I was afraid to, so I just took a photo.

Canoscan 8800F, negativ on scanners glass under antireflecting glas. Delivers fine prints up to 30x40 cm from 35 mm film.

Only 2 strips of 8 are scanned, most of the 38 pictures from 1 35mm film turned out fine. A hell of a film, the Acros100 @ 400. No contrast or brightness correction done here. As is out of the scanner with only a very little bit of sharpening.

Tappoo plasic bag from Fiji. The plastic (polyethylene) is impregnated with a special chemical additive (TDPA) that renders the plastic "degradable" and "biodegradable" under specific circumstances. Biowrap (biowrap.com.au/) manufactures the plastic with Epi Global (www.epi-global.com/en) manufacturing the additive.

Mini Sharpener LTS (plasic w/metal blade)

These toy cameras are so light and small, they make perfect pocket cameras.

It is all brick masory, which has been plastered over.

Well, this was supposed to be a picture of the clever Airplane packaging I made from pipe insulating. The final version also featured some bubblewrap and a big plasic bag.

Sadly Germanwings didn't liked it as much and folded my front wheel to a pretzel on the flight back. They refuse to pay since "it wasn't appropriately packaged".

Thanks a lot, fuckos.
