I found this Plains Garter Snake in Smolenski Park. I had been trying to catch one back there all Spring and finally got the opportunity today. It was definitely one of the larger Garter Snakes I have seen.

Featureless grass plains meet 700 ft sandunes at the base of 14k peaks in Colorado's Great Sand Dunes National Park. Off the beaten path, but well worth a trip.

The male lion who is the pride leader in Liuwa Plain walks in the open grass. This male, known as Bon Jovi because of his impressive mane, was brought to this area from Kafue National Park since there were no male lions in the park to mate with the one female that was there. Because of his attcking cattle in local villages he was relocated to Kafue National Park in 2025.
The Plains of Bagan (Pagan) are beautiful, any time of day. This is late afternoon from Pyathada Pagoda as the light fades over the plains.

From the first chase of the week... Saturday afternoon (June 15, 2013), a little after reaching Denver to start chasing the next day, some nice storm cells popped up east of Denver so I drove about 80 miles east to catch up to a couple of them.
