Southern Railway brick passenger station at The Plains, VA. Built in 1914 on the Manassas Gap Branch (now the NS B Line). The SR freight agency closed n 1973. Adaptive reuse as commercial space.

"The impetus for the new passenger station was to provide a moreelegant arrival venue for those huntsmen traveling from the north to participate in the Orange County Hunt. Many of these travelers arrived in their private railroad cars. The room in the half-story portion of the brick depot was dedicated to a private waiting room for the northern visitors. It was named the Governor W. Averell Harriman Room in honor of Edward Harriman’s son who was governor of New York. Fairfax Harrison, president of the Southern Railway System who lived nearby, was particularly influential in seeing that the new railroad station was built".

Danaus chrysippus, also known as the plain tiger or African monarch, is a medium-sized, butterfly widespread in Asia and Africa. It belongs to the Danainae ("Milkweed butterflies") subfamily of the brush-footed butterfly family, Nymphalidae. Its coloration is mimicked by multiple species.

The plain tiger is believed to be one of the first butterflies to be used in art. A 3500-year-old Egyptian fresco in Luxor features the oldest illustration of this species.

The plain tiger can be considered the archetypical danaine of India. Accordingly, this species has been studied in greater detail than other members of its subfamily occurring in India.

The Salt Plains are a flat expanse of mud, completely devoid of vegetation, located in north central Oklahoma. The name, Salt Plains, is derived from the thin layer of salt that covers the flats. This salt was used by Native American tribes and early pioneers who first settled the area.

The plains are 7 miles in length and approximately 3 miles wide and lie within the boundaries of the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge. The plains border the Great Salt Plains Reservoir, constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1941.

The plains zebra (Equus quagga, formerly Equus burchelli), also known as the common zebra or Burchell's zebra, is the most common and geographically widespread species of zebra.[2] It ranges from the south of Ethiopia through East Africa to as far south as Botswana and eastern South Africa. The plains zebra remains common in game reserves, but is threatened by human activities such as hunting for its meat and hide, as well as competition with livestock and encroachment by farming on much of its habitat.
