The fire hydrant was placed close to the building for quick and easy access. Its red color gives it emphasis. Notice also they have emphasized the yellow barracade so that people don't run into it.
Some of the most facinating artifacts found here in the Grand Canyon are split-twig figurines.
Each one is made from a single twig, often willow, split down the middle, and then carefully folded into animal shapes.
These figurines date from 2,000 to 4,000 years ago and were found in remote caves.
Often they are in the shape of deer or bighorn sheep, sometimes with horns or antlers. Occasionally, they are pierced with another stick, resembling a spear, or are stuffed with artiodactyl dung. Split-twig figurines have been found in dry caves in the Great Basin and on the Colorado Plateau, and were first recognized in the Grand Canyon in 1933.
--While their exact function remains a mystery, recent research suggests that split-twig ----figurines were totems associated with the Late Archaic hunting and gathering culture. Their occurrence in remote, relatively inaccessible uninhabited caves indicates that these figurines were not toys. They are usually found under rock cairns, indicating careful placement.

In one booth: a pair of 13(?)-year-old twin girls who wrote a science fiction novel, The Strand Prophecy. Right next to them: a supermodel, whose booth is plastered with bikini posters. Great message you're sending them, Wizard.
After the recent Brisbane floods, a few normal household items ended up where they probably shouldn't belong. I ride past this every day and I finally found the time to take a few photos. I like how it seems to juxtaposition the massive culverts that are under the Centenary Freeway. I hope you enjoy :)
Use the settings above to align the text box correctly. You'll need to turn it upside down to it appears right on the back of the card. do this by changing the Angle to 180 degrees.
Seen on Bainbridge island, WA. Thought it would make a nice desktop wallpaper while we wait for the snow to fall.
I spent my evening in the kitchen, baking a cake for my decorating class, making frosting, and icing the cake.

An advertiser's dream - flashing the brand name to the photographers with a simple grab, above Meribel, at the Dierdra memorial freestyle event.
Spent the afternoon working on this. I had started it (and had made it about this far last night at my knitting group) but I didn't like the placement of the colors in it, so I ripped it out and started it again. I'm pretty happy with this order now.
#5784 - 2023 Day 305/365: We spent the workshop morning exploring objects, meditating on their appearances and feel, and then photographing them in the light. This deliberate practice helps us to be better attuned to notice when light falls on objects naturally.
Here's how we've mounted the accelerator pedal for the moment anyhow. So far it's working out just fine. Time will tell, as more people test it out.
As you can see from the "DIRT" on the E-Tractor, it's being tested.
