The idyllic pastoral vistas and ordinary folk typically seen in Americana folk art are re-imagined here as intricate pixel art.

Description:
Shot recently at one of the thousands of job sites I’ll be visiting at my new job for the railroad in Denver, CO. I love Denver. It’s filled with beautiful architecture, an amazing skyline, and these… Creepy trees. ;)
Process:
Shot with native camera. Edited for drama, then grunge, then back to more drama in Snapseed. Plus other little tweaks. Then into my new favorite app, LensLight. When I did the double drama in Snapseed I noticed what appeared to be a light shining through the clouds onto the tree. So in LensLight, I added some more light rays coming from above. Lastly, since the double drama created a bit of pixelization in the sky, I opened up Filterstorm, created a small blur amount to use, and painted in some blur where it had been pixelized.
And voilà!
I had been trying to get an American Kestrel photo for several years. I managed to capture a satisfactory one around this time last year, but I never got it posted to Flickr (my life story). Anyhow, the quality isn't too good on this shot (very pixelized when viewed large). The sunlight was harsh and I had to shoot through my windshield because the bird was skittish.
I originally uploaded this at 640x480, but the Flickr rendered version looked terrible, showing much jaggedness and pixelization.
This was originally a stack of 241 video frames, limited down to the best 80 percent (193 frames).
Each individual frame has some good information, and a lot of random camera noise. As more images are stacked, the random noise cancels itself out, leaving just the real information in the final image.
I have about 25 short videos taken that night. Eventually, I'm going to try combining 500 video frames.

Jan. 2015. Looking towards Catalina. Two Harbors is the low point in the background on the right. Orion (CA51B) is the one shown.
This will be the last picture of these wild ones until I see them again.
I took a video of them that is okay. It has some pixelization issues with Youtube, but it gives you an idea of what it was like:
I don't know why this one chose to 'pixelize' the way it did, but I'll upload an alternate format later.
i've read people moaning on forums about not receiving their standard edition of Midwinter Graces w/th postcard. well, i've received mine this morning and let me tell you it's nothing special, if not another rip-off. it's very fragile, printing quality sucks (the black goes away easily to reveal some ugly yellowish) and i won't talk about Tori's signature who's horribly pixelized. hopefully the deluxe edition will be worthy...
The spheres are meant to help us see the deer as made up of tiny details, and to fracture it and make it into abstract patterns.
It's hard to get close enough to the sculpture, but through the spheres, we can see the deer's fur.. tiny patterns and textures.
I worked from a still image of my own eye and then used a program to lower the resolution in order to gain this pixelated effect. Using acrylic paint and A4 paper, I first divided my page into equally divided squares and then began to proceed using the squares to create my eye.
Gray tube on right is ladder to hatch in the starboard fin. Center has the curved bottom of the pressurized habitable area. Unfortunately view of orange radiator to the right is close enough to reveal pixelization of texture map.
Viking ships with sails painted in stripes of color and beautifully carved figure-heads, sometimes contained hundreds of oarsmen…two by each oar…sailing and rowing for weeks and months at a time.
A screenshot of tumblr dahsboard, reaction notifications part. Icon and account is pixelized, so you can use safely.
From a private photo-shoot I had with Cat during Dragon Con 2023. I added in all sorts of bells and whistles to this image: digital flame backdrop; Elemental Action for PS (created glowing edges and flame effects); Topaz DeNoise AI (to slightly sharpen the image and remove pixelization); and Nik Software's Color Efex Pro.
