"Hummingbird - Painterly Portrait" by Patti Deters.

This is a close-up portrait of a female ruby-throated hummingbird (Archilochus colubris) perched at the end of a small branch. It is the males that have the red throat - females have white throat feathers, although they may occasionally sport a single red feather. Females have rounded tail feathers with white tips. This tiny little hummer can beat her wings about 53 times a second. She has very short legs that prevent her from walking or hopping - the best she can do is shuffle along a perch. But she is an exceptionally quick precise flyer and you can even hear the beat of the wings if you ever get close enough. I've been chasing night storms for close to 30+ Years. They mystify me in a way that I cannot easily explain. I'm captivated by the flashes of lighting against the soft silhouettes of the clouds. The angrier the storm, the better I feel that I'm in the right place at the right time. It is my kind of storm euphoria.

Crazy to say that when I was younger, I was terrified of night storms. Now I'm at more comfort and peace with myself when night storms arrive. The entire beauty of what mother nature does is something that will always further my passion for storm photography.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The LPF-01 Pixel was Icarian Heavy Industries attempt to dominate what it saw as an emerging market: “prosumers” who were looking for a labor frame with style, comfort, and ease-of-use as major selling factors, and weren’t at all concerned with taking it into combat.

Though the concept was initially derided in many circles, it turned out this market did exist, and Pixels were soon flying off the assembly lines.

I had this shot in mind when I took it the other morning on my way to work. This is a handheld pan of 5 images shot on my Pixel, stitched with Microsoft ICE, and minor cropping done in ACSDee Ultimate.

I posted nearly the same image on my Instagram account, but it was created by the Google Assistant on my Pixel Phone from the same frames before I could get home and process this one.

Selfie - Analog pixels

This image is a 2000X1250 pixel scan from a slide, print or negative. The vast majority of the shots were scanned during the 2007-2014 period. Some images may be re-uploaded from the earliest versions which were done in a smaller size and are noted accordingly.

The images here from my own collection. They are a combination of my own photographs, as well as those acquired over 40+ years through trading, purchasing, and attending various slide events around the world.

This photostream was initially created in 2017 for archival purposes, and in the years since (to 2023) has had over 11 million image views.

The guys from eBoy once again released a great pixel art poster - this time it’s all about web 2.0.

A game available on many systems, and now in LEGO form! Dalv faces the end boss, Yog-Dzewa. Yog-Dzewa is an Old God, a powerful entity from the realms of chaos. It has summoned Rotting Fist and Burning Fist: these are the last enemies that stand between Dalv and the Amulet of Yendor!

A century ago, the ancient dwarves barely won the war against its army of demons, but were unable to kill the god itself. Instead, they then imprisoned it in the halls below their city, believing it to be too weak to rise ever again. "Hope is an illusion" it says when Dalv encounters it.

I have spent many, many hours playing this game... I beat Yog-Dzewa thirteen times, with all characters classes, and multiple challenges, even once with two challenges! If you don't know the game, you can fix that for free, if you do, HOORAY!

As a tribute to all those hours of frustration, and some of entertainment, I built this MOC. I took some artistic liberties - mostly with the inventory - but wanted to give it as much of a game-like appearance as possible.
