One of the most stunning cats I have ever seen - he is truly magnificent, although maybe a little sad - he was despaerate to get to the females hence the sad expression

We pulled way north and got back into southern Nebraska. Now on the backside of this thunderstorm. Intense cc lighting was to good to pass up.
We pulled off just north of Alma Nebraska. Pointed the lens due south and captured some of the best lightning of 2015

Probably the most well-known cliché shot from any Open House London, this is something I've wanted to see for 4 years now - but never made it until this Sunday. The atrium is within the Allen & Overy offices in One Bishops Square. The balls stretch up several floors and change colours, shortly after getting the nice reds it all went white until we'd left.

I used Processing 3.3.6 and ASDF PixelSort and the result was achieved more by luck than judgement :-)

Captured on the East side of Mount Palomar under a dark rain cloud. A small break in the cloud created a beautiful rainbow and sunray. The vertical dark zones in the ray are rain. Henshaw Lake shows a subtle orange glow.
This shot was optimized for the sunray. The adjacent shot was optimized for the rainbow.

"Al final de la antigua explanada de la estación en sentido Calahorra, nos encontramos con la boca sur del túnel de Arnedillo."
En 1942, la Explotación de Ferrocarriles por el Estado decidió iniciar las obras para completar los cinco kilómetros que faltaban desde la estación de Préjano a la de Arnedillo.
Arnedillo se encuentra ubicado en un altozano enclavado en un desfiladero junto al río Cidacos. La falta de espacio obligó a los ingenieros que planificaron el ferrocarril construir un grandioso túnel en curva que pasaba por debajo de la población y terminaba a la entrada de la estación; ubicada esta en una nueva explanada junto al río a las afueras del municipio.
Finalmente, en julio de 1947 se culminó la construcción de todo el conjunto y los trenes pudieron llegar a la por entonces nueva estación...
Tristemente este pequeño ferrocarril nunca tuvo el éxito deseado y tras varios años de profunda crisis operativa por pérdidas, FEVE decidió clausurar la línea definitivamente en 1966.

"Remembering Old Narrow-Gauge Railways"
"At the end of the old station esplanade heading towards Calahorra, we find the southern entrance of the Arnedillo tunnel."
In 1942, the State Railway Operation (Explotación de Ferrocarriles por el Estado) decided to begin construction to complete the missing five kilometers from Préjano station to Arnedillo station.
Arnedillo is located on a hill nestled within a gorge next to the Cidacos River. This lack of space forced the railway planning engineers to build a massive, curved tunnel that ran underneath the town and ended at the station entrance. This station was situated on a new esplanade next to the river on the outskirts of the municipality.
Finally, in July 1947, the entire project was completed, and trains were able to reach the—then brand new—station.
Sadly, this small railway never achieved the desired success. After several years of a deep operational crisis due to financial losses, FEVE (the Spanish Narrow-Gauge Railway company) decided to permanently close the line in 1966.

Unfortunanetly the high resolution mode confirmed that my lens is slightly decentred, with a softer left side performance. Ironically, this is harder to see at normal resolutions. Some times, ignorance is bliss!
I was taking landscape shots across beautiful Canyon Lake when Mrs. Pixel shouted “I'm taking the macro lens!” and quickly disappeared. It didn’t take long to find her next to a bush filled with Monarchs. I need to thank Sura for demonstrating that a 400mm lens makes a great substitute for a missing macro lens and of course Mrs. Pixel who spotted the first Monarchs of the season.
