Wooden pipes like this were once seen all over the west, Especially in Utah, Wyoming Idaho and Western Oregon. Lacking any serious metal working capability, resourceful pioneers turned to wood with iron bands to make pipes for culinary water and irrigation projects. This one is in western Wyoming

Polyethylene gas pipeline has many outstanding characteristics, such as low-temperature resistance and good toughness. Butt welding machines are also in this environment, and the demand has increased significantly.
A butt welding machine is a tool for implementing butt welding of plastic pressure pipes. The working principle of the hot-melt butt welding machine is to use a certain pressure on the two ends of the pipe (piece) to be welded against a heating plate with a preset temperature for a period of time. After the pipe has reached a sufficient temperature, the heating plate is taken out, and the two ends to be welded are pressed to make the two welding end faces close contact, and finally, the two end faces are bonded together.

Galvanized pipe that brought water to our kitchen sink. Somehow. When held up to the sun you couldn't see light through it. Michael replaced all the galvanized pipe with copper. By himself. Because he's awesome. Yes, we have a permit. And yes, our water pressure's much better now.

Not easy to see, but look at the pipe on the end and the ground underneath it; as always happens here in heavy rain, water pours out of the down pipe and on to the ground under it. Unfortunately I was not prepared to use my milk to make the rain more visible. ( For Gene Kelly’s ‘Singing in the Rain’ dance sequence, they discovered the camera could not pick up the falling “rain”, so they mixed milk with the water to make it visible).

Can't clean it much more without judicious amounts of bleach.
Wiiiide gap. When I probed with a stick, it seemed to sorta meet better near the bottom.
You can kinda see inside the pipe here - it's clogged with dirt and roots and stuff here. :/
