For some reason I was taken by this pinecone while out walking at lunch one day.

I carried it back with me to take home to photography.

It took a while to get the sticky sap off my hands.

A pinecone on my driveway.

Another upclose look at at Sequoia National Park.

These pinecones were begging for some warmth at the tail end of a late spring blizzard that pounded Colorado a few weeks ago. Taken at White Ranch Open Space in Golden.

Maria gave me a tiny pinecone she'd found outside. I photographed it in my camera's super macro mode with a pencil for scale.

I used a couple of pinecones from my yard as models, to woodburn this birch aceo.

The other night I couldn't get to sleep because I had the idea for this pinecone pouch and I really wanted to make it. Last night I made it.

You wear it round your neck (adult or child) and you can put shells, acorns, buttons or any other treasuure in it.

And it's lined with Liberty fabric

These were fun for my 3 1/2 year old to make and the silhouette saves so much time!

I did a quick tutorial here:

This ginger lily puts up beautiful flowering cones in the fall here in Florida. I cut these two and put them in a vase in my kitchen.

It's often called "pinecone ginger" because of the shape of these flower cones. The cones also smell a bit like pine trees if you squeeze them.

You can read more about pinecone ginger here.

I know that pinecones seem like a fall/winter thing, but we are finding them everywhere! I am always intrigued looking at the patterns each of them, I love to watch our collection of them grow.
