For some reason I was taken by this pinecone while out walking at lunch one day.
I carried it back with me to take home to photography.
It took a while to get the sticky sap off my hands.
These pinecones were begging for some warmth at the tail end of a late spring blizzard that pounded Colorado a few weeks ago. Taken at White Ranch Open Space in Golden.

Maria gave me a tiny pinecone she'd found outside. I photographed it in my camera's super macro mode with a pencil for scale.

The other night I couldn't get to sleep because I had the idea for this pinecone pouch and I really wanted to make it. Last night I made it.
You wear it round your neck (adult or child) and you can put shells, acorns, buttons or any other treasuure in it.
And it's lined with Liberty fabric
These were fun for my 3 1/2 year old to make and the silhouette saves so much time!

This ginger lily puts up beautiful flowering cones in the fall here in Florida. I cut these two and put them in a vase in my kitchen.
It's often called "pinecone ginger" because of the shape of these flower cones. The cones also smell a bit like pine trees if you squeeze them.
