"Pine Cone" by Patti Deters. A symbol of fall or autumn, the pine cone also represents Christmas. This close-up macro shows the brown ridges of the pine tree's seed with the needles in the background. Please enjoy more of my (plant, botanic, and more!) images at patti-deters.pixels.com.

50/50: Day 48

Thank you friends

This is a shot from our day at Devonian Garden. I learned so much that day.

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. USA.

Two image Vertorama.

Inside of the campground of Warren Dunes State Park. This will be a much busier place starting in a couple months.

This Pine Warbler, sitting at the base of a charred pine, was one of many Pine and Palm Warblers I watched feeding on the ground after a prescribed burn. These burns clear the ground and open up foraging opportunities for many bird species.

Successful morning walk - pine, palm, and yellow-rumped warblers, tree swallows, bluebirds, redwing blackbirds, great blue heron, and yellow-bellied sapsuckers.

Pine Warbler is a lifer

Scattered pine trees dot the colorful painted dunes as patchy clouds filter the morning sunlight. Further out the Fantastic Lava Beds take over with chunky black basalt, contrasting with the fine cinders that make up the colorful ground below. The pine forests here are normally quite dense (when not burned in massive wildfires). However the landscape of cinders is more challenging for the trees to colonize. But colonize they are doing, and as evidenced by other nearby cinder cones, one day this too will be dense pine forest. But in a human timescale we can enjoy this remarkable scattered tree landscape where the lush green trees contrast with the reds and browns of the rolling cinders.

Have to post a few more Pine Martin shots occasionally as these have been on my bucket list for several years.

Delighted with the pine warbler in the backyard.

Just the same old log pile but nice to see another pine marten,

looks as though this one has been in a battle.

I think I have burned yall out on eagles. So little birds it is for a while.

this little siskin appeared in my garden in the Spring for a short while. I am hoping he will come back for the winter. there was only one winter where I had a number of these small birds at my feeder all throughout the season

A pair of venerable NS Dash 9s bring a short intermodal towards Chicago, passing through Pine Junction, Gary, Indiana.

A real joy to finally meet the pair of pine marten kits whose antics have been entertaining me via my trail camera footage.

Also in my garden this morning. A tiny Ladybird less than half the size of the 7spot. Common in areas with pines I believe but so small it is not easily seen

Pine Grosbeak - Lerwick - 28031992

[Bidding adieu to our neotropical visitors until next Spring] Florida is probably one of a few states where the wintering and breeding grounds of several warbler species are coincident -- including this beautiful Pine Warbler. Seen at Harns Marsh.
