Time, gravity and excess sun exposure can cause deepening of facial lines and uneven pigmentation. This gives an older, tired look to an otherwise youthful complexion. Laser skin resurfacing can reduce, and often remove, much of this damage to the skin and literally "turn back the clock". A tired looking, sun damaged face can obtain an entirely new, fresh look with healthy, glowing smooth skin. This is the goal of laser resurfacing.
There are different levels of laser resurfacing available, depending on the patient's condition, the level of "down time" or recovery period a patient can tolerate, and cost.

Masai Giraffe (giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi)
- Range: the Savannas of eastern Africa. Note: in prehistoric time this single species ranged over most open areas in Africa. The giraffe range began to shrink 1,400 years ago to its present size.
- Diet: Girraffes are browsers. plucking leaves, buds and fruits from trees such as acacia, mimosa and wild apricot.
- Fun Fact: a giraffe's 18-inch tongue helps extend its reach way up into the treetops and curls in between spiny thorns on acacia trees. It is believed that the black pigmentation prevents the tongue from getting sunburned.

Wild spotted dog in the subway entrance.
It's not some kind of dirt spots, but natural color, caused by mutation (weak pigmentation).
Many people call that dogs "homeless" or even think, that they lost their homes, but they was born in free-ranging packs, living in industrial zones, communal garages, illegal markets and other such places. Usually they are not hungry and even overweight (especially near the markets or subway stations, where many people feed them).
But some packs can't conquer such a "wealthy" territory, and they eat rats, stray cats, small animals. "Elk island" NP, the largest national park in Moscow area, suffers from wild packs, because they killed all hares and foxes on their territory, and small deers are also in danger. Park rangers can't hunt wild dogs by law, and there is no punishment for feeding wild dogs in national parks. So it could be a big problem for NPs, located near or right in the cities.
Asinelli albini, endemismo sardo.

White Tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) - Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park and Wildlife Research Centre - Katraj (near Pune), State of Maharashtra, India - 15 June 2014
The White Tiger is a rare pigmentation variant of the Bengal Tiger. White Tigers are distinct for the normal coloration in that they lack the pheomelanin pigment that in normal tigers produces the orange color. They still produce the pigment eumelanin and hence are not considered albino. Compared to normal tigers without the white gene, White Tigers tend to be somewhat bigger, both at birth and as fully grown adults.
Currently, several hundred White Tigers are in captivity worldwide, with about one hundred being found in India. The last White Tiger ever seen in the wild was shot in 1958.

The Beluga Whale, which is also known as the white whale, (Delphinapterus leucas), is an extremely distinctive whale, and an Arctic and sub-Arctic cetacean. It is one of two members of the family Monodontidae, along with the narwhal, and the only member of the genus Delphinapterus.
This marine mammal is commonly referred to simply as the melonhead, beluga or sea canary due to its high-pitched twitter. The Beluga Whale has adapted to life in the Arctic, so has a number of anatomical and physiological characteristics that differentiate it from other cetaceans. Among these are its unmistakable all-white coloring, and the absence of a dorsal fin. It possesses a distinctive protuberance at the front of its head which houses an echolocation organ called the melon, which in this species is large and deformable.
Beluga Whale Description and Diet
The beluga’s body size is between that of a dolphin’s and a true whale’s, with males growing to a length of approximately 18 ft (5.5 m) long and weighing up to 3,500 lbs (1,600 kg). The Beluga Whale has a stocky body; and it has the greatest percentage of blubber. Its sense of hearing is highly developed and it possesses echolocation, which allows it to move about and find blowholes under sheet ice.
Belugas are gregarious and they form groups of up to 10 animals on average, although during the summer months, they can gather in the hundreds or even thousands in estuaries and shallow coastal areas. They are slow swimmers, but they can dive down to as much as 2,300 ft (700 m) below the surface of the ocean. They are opportunistic feeders and their diets vary according to their locations and the season. They mainly eat fish, crustaceans and other deep-sea invertebrates. The majority of belugas live in the arctic and the seas and coasts around North America, Russia and Greenland; their worldwide population is thought to number around 150,000 individuals.
They are migratory and the majority of groups spend the winter around the arctic ice cap. When the sea ice melts in summer, they move to warmer river estuaries and coastal areas. Some populations are sedentary and do not migrate over great distances during the year.
Unfortunately, Belugas are one of the cetaceans most commonly kept in captivity in aquariums and wildlife parks in North America, Europe and Asia. They are popular with the public due to their color and expressiveness. Their body is round, particularly when well fed, and tapers less smoothly to the head than the tail. The sudden tapering to the base of its neck gives it the appearance of shoulders, unique among cetaceans. The tail fin grows and becomes increasingly and ornately curved as the animal ages. The flippers are broad and short—making them almost square-shaped.
Beluga Whale and Integumentary Distinctiveness
The adult beluga is rarely mistaken for any other species because it is completely white or whitish-grey in color. Calves, however, are usually born grey and by the time they are a month old, they have turned dark grey or blue grey. They then start to progressively lose their pigmentation until they attain their distinctive white coloration, at the age of seven years in females and 9 in males.
The white coloration of the skin is an adaptation to life in the Arctic that allows belugas to camouflage themselves in the polar ice caps as protection against their main predators, polar bears and killer whales. Unlike the other cetaceans, the belugas seasonally shed their skin! During the winter, the epidermis thickens and the skin can become yellowish, mainly on the back and fins. When they migrate to the estuaries during the summer, they rub themselves on the gravel of the riverbeds to remove the cutaneous covering. #ourbreathingplanet

Because of the profusion of Sminthurinus springtails in leaf-litter locally, I'm still using the opportunity to photograph as many as I can. They can show a fascinating variation in pigmentation and colouring.
Top left is Sminthurinus reticulatus I think. The reticulate pattern contains dark pigment, similar to the lateral stripes.
Bottom centre is a Sminthurinus juvenile. I found an even smaller one recently which was pale purplish and assumed (incorrectly) that it was Dicyrtoma fusca. Frans Janssens pointed out though that because the fourth antennal segment was longer than the third, it couldn't be and was more likely an early instar Sminthurinus juvenile.
The other four are all Sminthurinus aureus. The top right individual looks like the reticulata form.

Simply put, Kumlien's Gulls are most similar to Iceland Gulls, with variable pigmentation in the primaries (and tail in immatures). The body can appear a little more bulky, head shape may be less rounded in a few birds, the bill can be slightly heavier (but still obviously short and small compared to e.g. American Herring Gull), and the wing projection may appear a little shorter at times (though the long primary projection is always quite obvious).
The Canadian race of Iceland Gull is known as "Kumlien's Gull" it is one of the most variable of all gulls in plumage characters, and no two seem to have the same amount of dark on the wingtips. It is also thought that these birds of the race 'Kumlieni' are basically a hybrid population between the Iceland Gull and the Thayers Gull. The taxonomy of various species of gulls is difficult and a lot more knowledge of these birds is required to see if they are actually seperate species. This I think is a third winter bird, or is it something like a Hybrid Glaucous x Herring gull. I think we should call this a 'Nelson's Gull'

King Penguins are notorious for their prim, tuxedoed appearance -- but a recently discovered all-black penguin seems unafraid to defy convention. In what has been described as a "one in a zillion kind of mutation," biologists say that the animal has lost control of its pigmentation, an occurrence that is extremely rare. Other than the penguin's monochromatic outfit, the animal appears to be perfectly healthy -- and then some. "Look at the size of those legs," said one scientist, "It's an absolute monster."
The under-dressed penguin was photographed by Andrew Evans of National Geographic on the island of South Georgia near Antarctica. As the picture circulated, some biologists were taken aback -- including Dr. Allan Baker of the University of Toronto. His first response was disbelief:
Wow. That looks so bizarre I can't even believe it. Wow.
While multicolored birds will often show some variation, Dr. Baker explains that what makes this all-black King Penguin so rare is that the bird's melanin deposits have occurred where they are typically not present -- enough so that no light feathers even checker the bird's normally white chest.
Andrew Evans:
Melanism is merely the dark pigmentation of skin, fur -- or in this case, feathers. The unique trait derives from increased melanin in the body. Genes may play a role, but so might other factors. While melanism is common in many different animal species (e.g., Washington D.C. is famous for its melanistic squirrels), the trait is extremely rare in penguins. All-black penguins are so rare there is practically no research on the subject -- biologists guess that perhaps one in every quarter million of penguins shows evidence of at least partial melanism, whereas the penguin we saw appears to be almost entirely (if not entirely) melanistic.
Whether or not the all-black look catches on in the penguin fashion world, it's nice to see someone dressing-down for once.

SRI LANKA, Sigiriya, Sep 04, 2010 – There has been a huge media frenzy recently over the pigmentation of some of the famous fescos in Sigiriya. When I visited the rock, the over 1500 year old frescos appeared to be in far better shape than what was reported in the media. There was no indication of massive pigmentation or discolouration. Aphids have a lot of structural and pigmentation variation within species, and even within genetically identical parthenogenetic groups. This specimen is an example of an alatimorph apterous female.
