and it's by no means an original one, but for years I've had this idea of using a window as a picture frame. So ... I recently acquired a couple of old windows from a dear friend, and I had 24 x 36 prints made of a couple of pictures I wouldn't mind looking at. This is one of the plethora of pictures that have been taken of downtown Portland, one I took this past December, and it's mounted temporarily behind the window. So if and when it gets completely finished and mounted on a wall, I'll get to see this view whenever I wish to...

Don't pay attention to the various reflections and shadows, just wondering if anyone thinks this is a workable idea ...

Here is my second attempt at a glass gem mosaic picture frame. as before I used a picture frame with a mirror surround as a substrate but this time for a 3x3 inch picture. Two rows of glass gems were used rather than three and this time the gems do not overlap leading to a much more level edge which makes it stand much easier.

I have tons of photos I've taken over the holiday, but here's something to hold you over until I can sort through all of them. As you can see, I've delved into the world of decoupage. I think I'm going to do a few of these as Christmas presents this year.

Total cost: ~$3

From the early 70's. One is filigree, the other has faux mother of pearl strips. Pretty !

Another busy night and as I like to take the photo on the day I had to resort to using this photo for the theme as it was the only one I had time to quickly grab a shot of when I was out with my friend. It is a tile mosaic on the wall, but I like how the picture is framed with tiles too.
