By Skip Hipps... NOT my work! (I should be so good!)
Skip makes these frames to order and decorates all surfaces except the back with an amazing assortment of sennits, braids, knots and bends. This one is 23" x 19" outside dimension and took three months to do.

The vendor thought that this frame might date back as far as 19th century, definitely a neat looking frame in reasonably good shape still...
There was a 5.8 earthquake, and I was at home to feel it. Even though I was just 8 miles from the epicenter, it didn't feel too big. Friends in high rise buildings in downtown L.A. and San Diego said it was strong. I was on the phone with a friend, casually walked to the front doorway, and kept chatting. After the quake, I moved my guitars off the shelf, and checked for damage. As you can clearly see, our house was hit hard. One picture frame was slightly off center. Whew.
Using some walnut and a spilt turning to make a frame for this painting by Caroline Vos. The wax on the split turning turned white, not sure how I feel about that on walnut.
