1952 Chevy Pickup during ARC Car Show at Old Cowtown Museum. The car show was a fundraiser for the ARC of Sedgwick County.
The Arc of Sedgwick County began in 1953 when parents concerned about services and future opportunities for their children formed The Wichita Association for Retarded Children. This was the first organization in this country to promote the general welfare of all persons with mental retardation, to foster the development of programs on their behalf and to increase the public’s awareness and acceptance.

The museum has plenty of old trucks, and, if I'm remembering rightly, it also has some very old restored farming tractors.
It's been years since I've gone to this museum, I was going through some of my old photographs, and thought I'd share this photo with you.
This pickup truck is totally made of wood, even right down to the engine parts, and I believe it also had the wooden transmission. The wiring of this pickup truck was done with thin flexible wooden dowels.
A mirror was put directly under the trucks hood, as shown here, so that, you could see the whole engine.
Enjoy,
Keith
Buildin' the trans tunnel. I'm makin' it as close as I can to the transmission so it's not gonna be symetrical since I have to have clearance for the shifter and trans fluid lines. The top piece will be removable. My gas pedal will be mounted high on the left side of the tunnel, '60s gasser style.

Great old refurbished pickup was in a barn behind the pumpkin patch -- the farmer had quite the collection -- he saw my black and white sketch offered to pay me for a drawing of it --- ha so I got my first commission.

Tick tock..Tick tock..what is he searching for in next second?
Worried a bit but exciting, they stared at me my close up snapshot. It was a quirky seasonal flea market scenario, filled up with unusual commodities along the street.
Any pickup would you like there?
I thought this looked great in proper period condition, with a load of logs in the back (though maybe car parts would have been a better cargo, given it's sign-written for a breakers yard).
My dad thought it would look better re-sprayed, but I definitely prefer it like this. It's been in the country for 3 years.
