This weathered Studebaker pickup truck is for a sale at a local used car lot. The styling didn't change much in the early fifties, so I'm going to take a guess and say 1952.
The Yesterday's Collection car show at Ann Arbor, Michigan, May 25, 2009.
Not just any hot rod, but a pickup truck with a Corvette LS1 engine. Yes, I have a photo, see below.
Radical custom modifications for this F100. Front bumper is from a '55 Pontiac and the grille is '59 Chrysler Imperial. The hood has Plexiglas panels to allow the engine to be viewed.

MOC: 4x4 Pickup, designed in MLCad first (which lead to a small design flaw, see image no. 10) and then built with real bricks. This is the original MLCad file.
A cruise at Fat Boy's BBQ in Georgetown, KY brought out some fine tin on a high-overcast Sunday.
This rat-pickup looks like some of the vehicles that I saw out on Historic Route 66 in Arizona.
The bleach/sharpening effect highlights the patina on this ride.

A nice looking 1949 Ford Pickup that was on display at the 2012 Kansas Agriculture Hall of Fame Show and Shine Car Show held in Bashor Missouri.
There was an awful lot of body filler in this thing! It was an eyesore but we had some good times in it. I once moved 12 people from pub to party in it

What is the alternative to human powered rickshaws? Cycle rickshaws or pedicabs, though they are not terribly better off either. In most other cities, people use mechanized transport. Here in Calcutta, pedicabs also exist in flatbed or delivery van versions, and they are no better. Here is a grossly overloaded trishaw pickup truck where the driver has got off to push his vehicle due to an incline. (May 2009)

Sometimes your worst experiences while traveling end up being your best memories. We rode this Nissan pickup death trap for 7 hours.
We were only on the road for about 30 minutes when I took this photo. So, the pickup is actually half empty here. I'm not exaggerating. It felt like a cruel circus act with around 25 people- just on the lower level alone!
Do you see that empty space of bench on the back left corner? That was my seat. I chickened out on the roof because I thought the back seat would be more comfortable and "safer." I mean, I even wear my seatbelt even when I sit in the back seat.
But all I could think about as we crossed mountain ranges and swerved around hair-pin turns on bald tires, was the many ways that I could die.
"If we are in a head on collision, the people in front of me will lessen the blow."
"If we roll over the side of the mountain, I will jump away from the truck...but what if when I jump I fly in to a tree trunk?"
"What if my friends on the roof die and I'm still living?"
"What if the metal bar I'm leaning against gives way and I roll off the back while the truck is moving?"
All the while I was listening to my iPod on shuffle. Damian Marely, Debussy, and RJD2 became a morbid soundtrack to my twisted mental masturbation session.
At one rest stop I ask my intrepid travel companion Matt (whose goal it is to ride every form of transportation possible) why he decided to hang his shoeless feet over the side of the roof, when initially he didn't.
"Because I thought when we started that if I hung my legs over the side and we got in to an accident, that they would get chopped off. But then later I realized that when it's over, it's all over on this ride," he said.
I have seen extreme poverty in my travels - people without clean water, food, or adequate housing. But nothing has taught me more about its harsh realities than my ride on this Nissan pickup for 40. The Burmese stare death in the face every time they travel, and they have no other choice.
