Science Education Administrator Steve Gagnon teaches a group of young learners about the range of science research done at Jefferson Lab during the lab’s monthly Physics Fest held in the JLab CEBAF Center Auditorium in Newport News, Va. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2023. (Aileen Devlin | Jefferson Lab)

The Physics Fest includes a brief interactive summary of the science and technology at Jefferson Lab followed by experiments involving static electricity, liquid nitrogen and plasmas.

Students in physics lab use a laser in conjunction with a wire loop device built by science technician Jerry Goodin to measure strength of electric current.

I want a neon sign that says 'Physics.' Why do other state schools get all the cool shit?

Jerry the Gnome and Octavius the Gnome have decided to go skateboarding. Octavius has a mass of 1.25kg and the skateboard has a mass of 3.5kg. If Jerry pushes the skateboard with a force of 25 Newtons, how far will Octavius and the skateboard go before they stop? The coefficient of friction between the skateboard and the ground is 0.2255.

This is the thumbnail version of a framed copy of the registration for my grandfather's physics lab in Vienna. He had to leave everything behind in the war.
