You know the african proverb:

It takes a whole village to raise a child?

I have been asked many times what I've done (as a parent) to get my daughter, Llael to 'here'. I've got to say that I definitely have not done it alone!

The mentor system is wonderful for absolutely every person - and has been essential for guiding a highly psychic child like Llael. My personal feeling is that the consciousness on this planet is rising so dramatically from the past that we have a whole generation or two of parents who are in the position of raising children who are more spiritually aware than ourselves. I can't imagine that this is the norm in most worlds.

In any case, to meet that challenge I have been reminded of the african proverb and have taken it to heart. Llael's godmother has been wonderful support and deeply knowledgeable help in many times; another friend who experienced many of these extended abilities as a child herself has been a 'ready reference guide'; and former professors, have been supportive too.

I have learned to ask, not hide. To be an advocate; To follow where Spirit leads and puts people in my footpath.

..... and to READ! Many parents write and tell me that they don’t know anyone else in their community who they can share these things with. It seems really synchronistic that the internet came into its own about the same time as the profoundly aware kids! smile. Today’s mentors might come in virtual form - often as authors of all the wonderful books available.

Becoming your own mentor

(and your child’s mentor)

We chose homeschooling for middle school and most of high school - which many parents now choose for a variety of reasons - - and it seems to suit the psychic child’s specialized education needs perfectly.

The Home education movement is a movement that is really giving us back our own knowledge - a sort of “permission” to know what we know, be our own expert - or to go become our own expert.

BUT, it’s not the only way, and not the best way for all children. Be prepared to educate your own school leaders about the need for a more spiritually-based education, one that is sensitive to sensitivities. Ask that the FULL RANGE of sensory perceptions be taught wherever possible.

This website represents some of our favorite ways that we have found to fully explore the spiritual world of children - -

If any of you have suggestions to share we would appreciate hearing your thoughts and we’ll add them to our suggestion page. Our email is below - THANKS ashcraftmmin@yahoo.com

I was keen to try these out - something a bit different for the kids lunch, a way to use up the courgette that had been lurking in the bottom of the fridge for a while, and a non bread based meal. It was easy to make, pretty tasty warm, and went in lunchboxes for the next day. As I could have predicted, Megan finished hers, Thea wolfed it down, and Eli whined that there was onion in there.

It’s time to say goodbye my friend, your time is truly up

My oldest lens, a decade past, fading and washed up

Rarely sees the light of day, a little soft and slow

Our last week, our final meal, a moist eyed time of woe

So one more image, still soft and slow

Its time for change, now that I have more dough

So for you its final song is played

and me a soppy soul a tad dismayed

Almost 2% of the immigrants who landed at Ellis Island, during it's years as America's principal point of entry, seeking liberty, freedom of worship & expression, and an end to political and other forms of persecution, were sent back to their country of origin.

This was the most familiar, and last, sight of the Statue of Liberty they ever got.

query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?_r=1&res=9902E...

Ellis Island, now a 27.5-acre site located just minutes off the southern tip of Manhattan Island, New York, is likely to connect with more of the American population than any other spot in the country.

It has been estimated that nearly half of all Americans today can trace their family history to at least one person who passed through the Port of New York at Ellis Island.

Now, nearly a century since the peak years of immigration, Ellis Island is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the National Park Service.

This picture I took in 2007--still not knowing much about photography but novices tend to get lucky. This little bee was posing for me long enough to capture a few really good shots and it is rare to also have the pollen in such a good focus... so here it is. I had to enlarge with Genuine Fractals--and again, no loss as a result.

The upper left flower was really wilted and the green in the background was way too bright so I decided to use Nik's trial again. I used the Dfine to reduce noise, the Sharpen to increase sharpness only on the bee and the center of the flower the bee is on, and then used a color treatment called Indian Summer all over. I chose center lighten and border darken--that is a really cool function in Nik's ColorEffects! And finally, since the wilting flower just stayed looking wilted, I used CS5's new blending brush and the regular paint brush to put a little more (albeit artistic) life back into that flower. I also painted the background a bit to keep the painted look more consistent. It is interesting what a bit of tinkering can do! the whole process took about 15 minutes and it is a descent picture now.

Hello, everyone. Have you missed me? :)

Most of you probably didn't notice, but I've been absent for Flickr for more than a week.

I still took ALL of my 365 pictures - this project is a part of my life now, and I'm not going to give it up.

However, editing and uploading the pictures I take is not a main priority at the moment.

I do apologize greatly for not keeping up with any of your streams. I was busy last week, and then Friday through Tuesday I was on vacation, so I wasn't able to get on a computer at all.

But here I am again! :)

I'm actually cheating with this picture. :O It's the first time I've ever cheated, so gimme a break. :P

I did take pictures on the 29th, but they were rushed due to my seeing Eclipse at midnight, so they were all awful. Instead, I edited this picture I took last summer at Fort McHenry.

I will now be plaguing you all with nine days' worth of uploads. I apologize in advance.

I've missed you all and hope to catch up with all your streams soon! :)

St. Stephen's Basilica Roman Catholic basilica in Budapest, Hungary. It is named in honour of Stephen, the first King of Hungary (c 975–1038), whose mummified fist is housed in the reliquary.

Equal with the Hungarian Parliament Building, it is the one of the two tallest buildings in Budapest at 96 metres (315 ft) - this equition symbolises that worldly and spiritual thinking have the same importance. According to current regulations there cannot be taller building in Budapest than 96 metres (315 ft). It has a width of 55 metres (180 ft), and length of 87.4 metres (287 ft). It was completed in 1905 after 54 years of construction. Much of this delay can be attributed to the collapse of the dome in 1868 which required complete demolition of the completed works and rebuilding from the ground up.

The architectural style is Neo-Rennaissance; it has a Greek cross groundplan. The façade is anchored by two large bell towers. In the southern tower is Hungary's biggest bell, weighing over 9 tonnes (8.9 LT; 9.9 ST) . Its predecessor had a weight of almost 8 tonnes (7.9 LT; 8.8 ST), but it was used for military purposes during World War II. Visitors may access the dome by elevators or by climbing 364 stairs for a 360° view overlooking Budapest.

My aunt and uncle came to visit from Florida/Puerto Rico. I hadn't seen either one in 19 years. So my sister-in-law and I took them to San Francisco. We took the Ferry from Vallejo and then the Muni to Pier 39. It was a great day and we did a lot of walking. At some point my sister-in-law and my aunt decided to do some shopping and my uncle and I went and sat down on some benches. There was wonderful live flamenco guitar playing in the background and this little jewel like European Starling jumping around from place to place scrounging for food. I was amazed at how close he came to us. Obviously I had to take my shot. I took serveral pictures of him and this one was the best. It was a fun day and I'm glad I took the time to listen to the music and watch the birds :)

Following is a link to way more than you ever wanted to know about European Starlings.

Got my camera remote in the other day!! haven't had a whole lot of chance to play with it, but I like what I can do with it so far!

Anyways, hope you all have a wonderful week!!

P.S. we still have some snow on the ground...not a whole lot...but it's there. Funny to think that we've had snow on the ground for a whole week now! (which pretty much almost never ever happens in georgia!)

Internet mail, or “e-mail,” is a neat thing as it takes the postal system out of the loop and allows us to communicate with friends and/or family almost instantaneously…even those on the other side of the globe.

And while all of us enjoy a good joke or two, they tend to get old when you’ve seen them 50 times. My biggest pet peeve is when the same person forwards the same e-mail over and over again over the course of several months. I admit, my memory might be no longer than a mosquito’s butt, but come on! Even I can remember having sent certain pictures/jokes previously.

All that rambling having been said, I admit to getting a chuckle out of the Asian food store pictures. Sometimes, things are best not translated. The one above is the cleanest of all that have been sent (again) most recently.

I also like the pro gun, 2nd amendment “posters” floating around out there. On the surface, this one resonates pretty loudly and seems to scream “double standard.” But then again, isn’t it true that if so many Americans weren’t armed to the teeth, the President, regardless of his name or the color of his skin, might not need so much protection in the first place? It only takes one wacko to make trouble.

But hey…the girl is kind of cute. What gun totin’ guy wouldn’t like a girl that can probably shoot straighter than him?
