On the day of my stalking photo ops in the bars along Hennepin Avenue, this opportunity presented itself.
I couldn't decide on the mono or color, so I leave it to the Flickr folks. The light was wonderful that day and the tongue-in-groove walls looked lustrous in the sunlight, IMO as well as providing some nice highlights on the subject.
I have no idea what she was doing. I think she was playing on her phone.
I was a bit hesitant in putting this up thinking some may take offense that I was implying something about the character of the young woman. Nothing of the kind.
The way I took it was the woman was so engrossed that she couldn't be disturbed by some guy with a pick-up line. So, the "No Sale" sign seemed appropriate.

A man works at a watch repair shop in Old Havana. New business regulations in the communist country have allowed thousands of citizens to make money for themselves for the first time since 1959.
he didn’t hesitate. he stepped in like he belonged there. no glance left, no glance right. just the bottle in his hand, and the weight of someone who’s done this a thousand times. there was a breeze behind him, but he brought his own weather.
I was coming home one evening and struck up a conversation with a lovely older Native-American woman.turning home after a hard day at work. I complimented her on the assortment of rings she wore on her left hand
She explained to me that each was a gift and remembrance of her children and grandchildren. Her index finger is a momento from her eldest son, with those following of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her eyes lit up when I asked about the rings and she was only to happy to give me a short introduction to her progeny.
I asked if I could take a photo of her hand, and she agreed. I liked the contrast between the fancy rings and hard working hand, still carrying some of the grit of her factory work.
I thought about cleaning up the hands and nails with photo shopping, but I decided that would create a scene not faithful to the devotion to her family that was part of her life no matter what her work may have been.
I'm far from a teetotaler, and certainly not a prude, but I really didn't think was a saying to be part of a marketing promotion.
As an old marketeer, I really do not like the inference that the Lucid Brewing Company's products somehow links clear thinking with excellence in drinking.
I'm sure the creators of this blurb wanted to convey that if you are clear thinking, Lucid should be your choice of brew. But I do not think that is a particularly strong connection.
What do you think? Either way, I thought it was worthy of a photo since I have never seen this product before in the Twin Ciites. Minnetonka is just a bit west of Minneapolis, so it is another one of the many "craft beers" that seems to have taken over.
I found this picture yesterday when I was reorganizing my Xinjiang (western China) pictures. I previously overlooked it while picking out my best Xinjiang pictures, but on second look, decided that there's something about it that I like.
This shot was taken just before this one, one of my favorites from the trip: www.flickr.com/photos/96434059@N00/156380713/in/set-72057...

In Chinese calendar, every year there is a day in summertime earmarked for beating 'petty persons' (i.e. hostile parties). This day is called Jingzhe, overlapping either March 5th or the 6th in western calendar.
The main objective of the beating petty persons is to eliminate their vicious influence, while invoking aid from "honorable person" for the ritual's recipient who may or may not be the actual performer of the ritual.
In Hong Kong, underneath the Goose Neck Bridge in Wan Chai is a well-known locale for people exercising the ritual, but it is a mistaken idea if it is thought to be an exclusive venue, as one could easily find people everywhere performing the same ritual at street corners in respective neighborhoods. The Bridge draws particular attention simply because it gathers a number of elderly women, working as 'professional beaters'.
For first time, number of confirmed cases crosses into five digits, with 10,010 emerging on Friday.
Chuang Shuk-kwan of the CHP, meanwhile, noted that there has been a clear increase in the number of Covid cases.
“Whether we can control this, it actually involves a lot of aspects. Isolation facilities is one of them, and they’re seriously insufficient now. The other is social distancing, but that depends on whether citizens will cooperate, like whether people are staying at home and whether companies are having work-from-home arrangements as far as they can,” Chuang said.
“I saw that there is still a considerable amount of people on the streets nowadays,” she added.

A survey measuring pupils' stress levels ahead of next week's start of university entrance examinations suggests the coronavirus pandemic is taking a toll on their mental well-being.
Announcing the results on Sunday, the Hok Yau Club said the 1,700 form six students polled rated their stress levels at 7.6 out of 10, which is slightly lower than last year's record high of 8.1.
However, the scores were still the second highest since the Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) was introduced in 2012.
Students said the pandemic had mostly affected their motivation, concentration and learning progress because of class suspension.
The club's student guidance consultant Ng Po-shing also said students had difficulty releasing their stress as some sport facilities were closed because of the social distancing measures.
"In the past even when students had some pressure from the DSE, they could still do some sports with their classmates, which is quite effective in reducing the pressure,” he said.
"But this year, may be the students can't do so many things to reduce their pressure level. So that's why in general the pressure index is higher.”
Ng also said students were worried about not being able to study their favourite subjects even though it's now less competitive to get into universities thanks to a drop in student numbers.
He reminded students that if they are caught in an ambush lockdown for coronavirus testing on the day of their exam or the night before, they should let authorities know as soon as possible that they are taking the DSE so that special arrangements can be made.
