Liam, you should've seen how low the lake was last year. You would've had a blast finding what has sunk over the decades. I miss you buddy and will carry these memories wherever I go. (weekly theme: "Liam" | in memoriam)

Day 1 - You
Meet Pinky ... my favourite teddy as a child. This teddy even went into intensive care with me ... and although they wanted to burn it afterwards I was so upset with the notion it was sterilised.
Keeping distance from the smoky, 500+ acre Swedes Fire in Bangor, CA (weekly series: "Circular" | unconventional crop).

Painted textures engulf the sky: see how the cloud twists and turns. A thunderstorm brews over the Sierra Nevadas in California. (weekly theme: "Recess" | roaming free)

January 7th. As long as I have fruits and veggies in the condo I'll have a subject. (I never said it had to be interesting) By the way, for lighting I'm using a cheap ass Ikea desk lamp. I'm such a pro! Maybe sometime this year I can afford a real light.
This is a photo I've thought about taking for a while - it's our village's local cenotaph - a modest affair really, that sees a service on Rememberance Sunday. It seemed appropriate for today, with 1st July being the 90th anniversary of the commencement of the battles that became known as the battle of the Somme.
For The Fallen
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.
Liam, let's walk alongside Colleen & Kevin through your high school, cross-country stomping grounds. I miss you buddy and will carry these memories wherever I go. (weekly theme: "Liam" | in memoriam)
Sophie, my twin sis left for uni two days ago. :( I have two more weeks before I leave, and so she set up a surprise photo-a-day challenge'. Woop!
"Day 1 (Monday): Okay, so you're obviously missing me loads already. (If not, you should be!) So take a photo of something that reminds you of me. Okay, so this one is a bit Sophie-centred, but I promise you they're not all like that!"
Lunch today was the same as usual, cheese on toast, with strawberry milk (you obvs have choc milk), watching tv. You were acting a bit weird at lunch today tho Sophs. ;)
Okaay, so in order to take this photo I had my camera on a tripod and used my remote control on a 2sec timer so I could hide it. I did eat two lunches :P I even drank your chocolate milk for you! I feel a bit ill now... ;)
And I watched 'Tooth and Claw', awesome episode! Davey T has his scottish accent!
Hope this is up to your expectations Sophters. ;)
