This session is a continuation of my project to take baseline photographs of the current landscape in the Eden Landing Ecological Reserve’s Phase II project area. This next phase of salt pond restoration is located just south of Phase I, incorporating the area between Old Alameda Creek and the Alameda Creek Flood Control Channel. The area is currently dominated by diked ponds that are remnants of over a century of salt production. Over the next few years, many of these ponds will become connected to the tides while others will be managed with muted tidal flow as avian habitat.

For this photo session, I launched the camera cradle under a Sutton 16 from the site of the Alvarado Salt Works. The waters (E7) around the salt works ruins were quite low and I spent a bit of time taking photographs of a modest brine puddle while waiting for the wind to fill in. After a while, I shifted up to the Sutton 30 and started a walk southward toward Salt Pond E6C. This afforded a chance to photograph the renewed levees separating Salt Ponds E7, E6, E5, E4, and E6C. It looks like these levees have been reinforced with imported fill and they make for a well-graded, easy path to hike. In my previous outing, I had been taken with the tricolor scene when capturing e7 (blue), E5 (orange), and E4 (green) in the same photograph, so I worked on getting good coverage of this.

After arriving at the E5 / E6C levee, I headed east to walk around Salt Pond E6C. By this time the winds had grown a bit strong for the Sutton 30, so I was glad to be walking a bit downwind. I took more photos of the sanguine E6C landscape and the duck ponds to its east. After turning south along the duck ponds, I was able to end the session with views of Salt Ponds E4C and E5C, which were largely drained of water. By the time I reached the southern end of E6C, the Sutton 30 was beating me up in the fresh breeze so I called it a day and used the ratcheting block to haul my gear down. It was then an easy hike upwind back to the Alvarado Salt Works, where I arrived just as the sun set.

I am taking these documentary photographs under a Special Use Permit from the California Department of Fish & Wildlife. Kite flying is prohibited over the Eden Landing Ecological Reserve without a Special Use Permit.

Best of the several shots I get when trying the (feel like) motorbike exhaust sized Sovyet Tair 300mm f/4.5 lens. Around f/8 IIRC.

Cleaning up my studio space and I noticed that the maestro phaser I have has a mic-stand mount on the bottom. Awesome.

Phase 1 THE AGONY,

An attempt to channelize all that is dark inside of me; all the pain, the agony, the frustration, the hurt that has been pent up inside of me for a few months now....

This Album is an outlet for those otherwise ' tucked-under-the-rug-for-another-day ' emotions.

Divided in three phases -

Phase 1 THE AGONY,

Phase 2 THE RESTORATION,

Phase 3 - THE COMEBACK.

In life do not give up till you reach THE COMEBACK, You never know how close you are to it.... Like they say, That which doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. JUST KEEP SWIMMING, JUST KEEP SWIMMING.... :)

The first section of the hell panel. This took 4 hours and yes, it did hurt as bad as it looks like it hurt.

as usual by the time I make it to the end. I can't see anything but the flaws... namely that there's a lack of perspective at the bottom and a few other places. the shading is a little weak in spots but its done but only cuz I'm tired of working on it everday for the last week or so
