On September 11, we opened #UBGRoWHome for tours to kick off the final phase of construction and disassembly of the house! We have finally completed phase 1 of the front yard remodel earlier
this week. I installed landscape lighting to the front yard beds so
people can actually see our house now. It really highlights the new
beds.
So Jeff & I worked more on the front yard today. We had pulled out
all the bushes and have been applying chemicals to kill all the crazy
vines that had taken over the area. They appear to have been
sucessfully killed at this point, so we were ready to proceed with
phase 2 of the remodel. We had 5 cubic yards of top soil delivered
today for the left side bed. It took us several hours to move it all
(thank you muscles!), but it is prepped and ready for the weed fabric
and mulch this weekend. We'll keep you posted on more progress but
it's looking good!

At the end of the autumn term, parents and carers of phase two children were invited to see work produced for the Winter exhibition. Year three presented their responses to the climate crisis; year four produced a museum exhibition showcasing their investigations into ancient Egypt; year five showed off vehicles produced as part of their 'How high, how far, how fast?’ project; year six took up residency in The Clipper on Union Street to respond to the question: ‘What does community mean to us?’ This fantastic event was really well attended and the children really enjoyed showing off the results of their learning through the term. A big thank you to all involved!

U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the South Carolina National Guard, German army soldiers, and Colombian army soldiers take part in the weapons qualification event of the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB) during the state phase of the Best Warrior Competition (BWC) at the South Carolina National Guard McCrady Training Center, Eastover, South Carolina, March 3, 2026. The BWC is a multi-day event promoting excellence and resilience in the National Guard. Typically, National Guard competitors are selected at the battalion level to compete for the brigade title. The successive phase is the state BWC, followed by regionals and nationals. All phases are organized following a standardized, BWC event-template. The South Carolina phase of the 2026 BWC is held on March 2-6.Throughout the event, all participants are challenged, both mentally and physically, on critical areas of emphasis encompassing individual combat-skills and doctrinal knowledge.
