This morning some of the power points were not working and some others were.. We have three meters (because we have 3 phase power) and one of them was not working. A first inspection by Ausgrid showed a loose connection at the junction pole where we receive power from the grid. As they are not allowed to climb ladders any longer (O.H. &S) a cherry picker arrived. The wire was reconnected and we were back in business.

Demolition continues at Station Square Mall at Burnaby's Metrotown. The home of Save-On Foods will be gone, two month shy of their opening day's 25th anniversary...
Phase II of our upgrade project is complete with the addition of the Shimano/Santana Sweet Sixteens.
I hear that this is actually a work in progress and will be an advert with text branding. Last night when I came across it by chance it looked like a stunning art piece. I was actually on my bike and I guess I had been staring at too many oncoming headlights because a few minutes after stopping my eyes sort of adjusted, night vision kicked in and the subliminal image emerged from the gloom. I was so happy that I was armed with my tripod and camera.
Catching the painting in this embryo phase where its beauty is unquestionable and the technique so admirable prompts ruminations on the overlap between creativity and advertising; street art's cultural shift from anti advertising to part of the campaign machine; its great that "skills pay bills" yeah but a shame artists need to prostitute themselves. If advertising agencies are the only bodies approaching artists with open wallets then street art has to shamelessly hold its nose and dive deep into the trough. The use of street art locations, means and styles for advertising is seemingly unavoidable, let's hope there is a balance.
A view of the IRT roadworks taking place on Otto Du Plessis Drive (R27) at the Diep River bridge, towards Sunset Beach and Table View.
With phase 1A of the IRT project on track for completion in the second quarter of 2010, the City of Cape Town has just announced that it has placed an order for Volvo IRT vehicles.
This is a 'foyer' area of Phase 2, and through the door's lie's a once utilised ramp over the road to Phase 1 between the second and third floors. The door's are now eternally locked. To the right of this image is where the Golden Eagle hotel would have stood had it not been demolished.
