A handstamp cachet applied to postcards and letters sent from Phantom Ranch in the Grand Canyon. The wording on the cachet is somewhat amusing; no mules were spotted mailing postcards at Phantom Ranch. Mules were observed, however, doing the hard work of carrying the mail out of the canyon along the South Kaibab Trail.

Showcasing the best of the bygone era, Vintage and Classic Car Club of India (VCCCI) on Sunday 5th April 2009, hosted the annual rally of vintage cars.
The rally provided a glimpse of the best vintage collections that left the audience spellbound. The rally, which witnessed a parade of the finest luxury and sports cars, was flagged off from the Trident Hotel.
More than 100 rare vintage cars participated in the event, some of which dated back to 1900.
Among the cars on view were the timeless beauties ranging from Bentley, Austin, Ford, Chevrolet, Morris, Renault and Mercedes to Lamborghini, Range Rover, Porsche, Ferrari and Audi.

The Phantom Ship is made up of volcanic ejecta and 400,000 year old andesite lava. The hull of the "ship" is formed of volcanic ejecta, while the masts are part of a giant dike. The Phantom Ship was part of a 400,000 year old formation known as "The Phantom Cone", a precursor to the great Mt. Mazama. It was the first major volcano which erupted in the general vicinity of Mt. Mazama.
Although the Phantom Ship looks diminutive from the edge of the rim, in reality the feature is quite large and appears so when viewed from the surface, such as from the lake tour boat. The island rises 163 feet above the surface of the lake, as high as a 16 story building. The island is about 500 feet long.

Phantom quartz crystal from Minas Geras, Brazil. If you get the angle just right, you can see the ghost images of several crystals nesting inside the main crystal. These are seperate growth stages that formed sequentially as the crystal precipitated from its parent solution. At some angles of observation the phantoms are invisible.
