This aircraft was delivered to the RAF in 1971 serving out of Coningsby before transferring to Bruggen in Germany. This aircraft was the very last Phantom to fly when it was retired in 1992.

This species is a more common one in plains n urban areas seen hanging from a web in plants n shrubs, very active, they were seen moving n mating in this position. Usually find in large numbers.
phantom crane flies are fairly large, long-legged flies resembling crane flies. The larvae, which are scavengers, live in mud or shallow water filled with decaying grass, rushes, or leaves, and breathing through long tubes (see left). It is the adult that earns the name "phantom" because of its flight behavior. It hangs or floats in the air rather than flies, spreading its long legs to catch the breeze, a little like ballooning in spiders. Phantom crane flies have black and white banded legs with swollen metatarsi filled with tracheae, presumably to enhance buoyancy. When the legs are vibrated, this insect indeed lives up to its name, giving the beholders a sensation of "spots before the eyes.
The Phantom Crane Fly soars slowly through the air with its legs extended. The swollen tarsi catch air currents, helping it stay aloft. When it flies into shade, only the white leg bands are visible, and the insect seems to appear and disappear like a phantom.

This Phantom sitting at the backyard of Yanks Musseum at Chino (CNO/KCNO) in a very bad state shows fake markings as for 416263 / 62 painter for a film many years ago. Most experts believe that the real plane is 157282, an F-4J-42-MC, c/n 3816 but nobody is 100 % sure, not even the museum staff
The model has a reasonably detailed interior. The only thing missing is a representation of an engine in the engine bay. The bonnet does open.

XV408 F4 Phantom at Tangmere Military Aviation Museum being restored to it's colours that it had when serving in 1991 to commemorate the last year of Phantom operations in Germany.
Phantom ship is named for its resemblance to a ghost ship sailing along the lake. Despite looking rather small it's actually 500 feet long and reaches 170 feet into the air. It is also the oldest rock exposed in the caldera, dating back to lava that hardened some 400,000 years ago.
The purpose of the test was to determine the impact force, versus time, due to the impact, of a complete F-4 Phantom -- including both engines -- onto a massive, essentially rigid reinforced concrete target (3.66 meters thick). Previous tests used F-4 engines at similar speeds. The test was not intended to demonstrate the performance (survivability) of any particular type of concrete structure to aircraft impact. The impact occurred at the nominal velocity of 215 meters per second (about 480 mph). The mass of the jet fuel was simulated by water; the effects of fire following such a collision was not a part of the test. The test established that the major impact force was from the engines. The test was performed by Sandia National Laboratories under terms of a contract with the Muto Institute of Structural Mechanics, Inc., of Tokyo.

McDonnell Phantom FGR.2 XV 408 at RiAT Fairford 2004, one of the first of the type to be delivered to the RAF in 1968.
Due to have been scrapped before being transferred to the Tangmere Aviation Museum Sussex in Nov 2005. Whilst there the markings of 29 Sqn were applied but still in the grey scheme.
In 2017 a complete re-paint in overall blue with 92 Sqn marks was completed, the colours this aircraft wore in 1991 to commemorate the last year of RAF Phantom operations in Germany.

Coming closer to a structure in Crater Lake, popular named as „Phantom Ship“. Around 5 pm there were crepuscular rays to be seen and a silent journey of a central island. Soft reflections can be seen from a steep shoreline in the upper background.

The Phantom Ship is made up of volcanic ejecta and 400,000 year old andesite lava. The hull of the "ship" is formed of volcanic ejecta, while the masts are part of a giant dike. The Phantom Ship was part of a 400,000 year old formation known as "The Phantom Cone", a precursor to the great Mt. Mazama. It was the first major volcano which erupted in the general vicinity of Mt. Mazama.
Although the Phantom Ship looks diminutive from the edge of the rim, in reality the feature is quite large and appears so when viewed from the surface, such as from the lake tour boat. The island rises 163 feet above the surface of the lake, as high as a 16 story building. The island is about 500 feet long.
