Typeface: Bollivia Rosilla Script

When routine bites hard and ambitions are low

And resentment rides high, but emotions won't grow

And we're changing our ways, taking different roads

Then love, love will tear us apart again

Love, love will tear us apart again

Why is the bedroom so cold? You've turned away on your side

Is my timing that flawed? Our respect runs so dry

Yet there's still this appeal that we've kept through our lives

But love, love will tear us apart again

Love, love will tear us apart again

You cry out in your sleep, all my failings exposed

And there's a taste in my mouth as desperation takes hold

Just that something so good, just can't function no more

Then love, love will tear us apart again

Love, love will tear us apart again

Then love, love will tear it apart again

Love, love will tear it apart again

FAC 203, "Twelve Inches of New Order" was Factory promotional gift ruler issued in August 1987.

It listed the 12 New Order 12-inch singles from FACT 200 (Substance).

The ruler is actually 13 inches long; an extra 1/2 inch on either end. It was rumoured to be an edition of just 60 "samples" (for an intended run of 1000 to be integrated with the gatefold edition of "Substance"), but I think many more were actually made - I had three at one point!

FAC 96 was a 7" single, "Telstar" b/w "Telstar In A Piano Bar" by Ad Infinitum.

Ad Infinitum was a project by New Order's bassist Peter Hook and Lindsay Wilson (the then wife of Tony Wilson).

This single was a cover of the Joe Meek classic "Telstar" and was released in Feb/March1984 in a unique hologram sleeve.

The A-side "Telstar" featured Hooky and a couple of Stockholm Monsters performing an electronic version of the track. Lindsay apparently sang vocals but they were unused because of legal complications.

Love Will Tear Us Apart

Sept 2016. Playing New Order and Joy Division's Substance albums.

Two new Blue Plaques unveiled in Rochdale, celebrating the town's notable musical heritage, marking buildings used by Joy Division and John Peel amongst others. Quality.

The first plaque unveiled was on the former Tractor Sound Studios in Heywood, which was financially backed in the seventies by BBC Radio1 DJ John Peel

A second plaque was unveiled at the Kenion Street Music Building which was formerly home to Cargo Studios and New Order bassist Peter Hook's Suite 16 Studios - which I had the pleasure of recording in some time ago.

Joy Division were among the bands to regularly record in the studio in its early days. The building was also used in the filming for '24 Hour Party People'

Reportedly the first record with a holographic cover (I've done my best to photograph the hologram here), FAC 96 was a 7" single, "Telstar" b/w "Telstar In A Piano Bar" by Ad Infinitum.

The flipside, "Telstar In A Piano Bar", featured then ACR keyboardist Andy Connell and Simply Red's Tim Kellet, who was also working with Durutti Column at the time, on trumpet.

In accordance with the rules of rock'n'roll, that 'air bass' should be slung waaay lower!
