This is a flyer - given out at New Order gigs in early '83 - advertising Mark Johnson's Joy Division/New Order book "An Ideal For Living" (the first to be written about the band).
Via this flyer you could also order the limited edition (1,000 copies) hardback version.
The book eventually came out in 1984 and was as much about New Order as it was about Joy Division. And there were only 500 of the limited edition hardbacks published.
Promotional postcard issued by Touch Records in 1997 for the CD and 12" release of New Order's "Video 586" (also known as "Prime 586").
The discs contained a third track, Joy Division's "As You Said" - hence, one supposes, the Curtis connection. The picture looks like a still from the band''s BBC appearance on "Something Else".

I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
I don't care 'cause I'm not there
And I don't care if I'm here tomorrow
Again and again I've taken too much
Of the things that cost you too much
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...
When I was a very small boy,
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see
That's the price that we all pay
Our valued destiny comes to nothing
I can't tell you where we're going
I guess there was just no way of knowing
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...
I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
The chances are we've gone too far
You took my time and you took my money
Now I fear you've left me standing
In a world that's so demanding
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

An apartment building now sits on the site of one of the most famous venues in Manchester history.
The iconic Haçienda opened in 1982. It was a successful venture for some years but problems with drugs and crime took their toll.
The club finally closed its doors in 1997.
The Haçienda was closely associated with Factory Records, Tony Wilson and New Order.
Many of the most famous names in the Manchester music scene of the time played on its stage which also the UK debut Madonna.

FAC 53, a 7" single by New Order - "Procession" b/w "Everything's Gone Green", released in September 1981.
Produced by Martin Hannett, this, the second single by New Order, was released in nine (pictured here) different colour variations, each featuring Peter Saville artwork inspired by a graphic of a generator by Fortunato Depero from 1927.
their early reputation as difficult and reclusive reads oddly in view of their later status as national treasures (though still grumpy and awkward!).
Found some Joy Division postcards yesterday. Had them for years but I've no real idea of when I got them... Probably in the mid-80s. Used to find lots of likewise postcards in cardshops and record shops but they don't seem to be available anymore... though I might be wrong. This is the one that was produced with the artwork from the "Transmission" single.

"The listing on the Disney Store website reads: "Inspired by the iconic sleeve of Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures album, this Waves Mickey Mouse Tee incorporates Mickey's image within the graphic of the pulse of a star. That's appropriate given few stars have made bigger waves than Mickey!" The shirt is "created especially for Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort." We are not making this up." ©Pitchfork

The Hacienda hosted Madonna’s first UK appearance, a two song set which was filmed for Channel 4’s music show "The Tube" in 1984. The audience in the club weren't very impressed by her lip-synched performance, with the notable exception of Rob Gretton, who offered her £50 if she’d do another set later on. She told him to fuck off....

NEW DAWN FADES - THE STORY OF JOY DIVISION, by Brian Gorman, sold out at Greater Manchester Fringe Festival in July 2013 before going on a UK tour.
Directed by actor NEIL BELL (a familiar face in TV’s Downton Abbey and Coronation Street, plus the cult movie Dead Man’s Shoes), this is the classic story of four ordinary lads who, inspired by the punk revolution of the 1970s, came together to form one of the most influential bands of all time. Lead singer Ian Curtis' suicide in 1980, and the band's transformation into the hugely successful New Order.
This stage production combined the band's history with the city of Manchester and Salford, taking inspiration from Curtis' enigmatic lyrics, and involving many real-life characters such as Roman General Julius Agricola (who built the military encampment in the 5th century AD) AND Dr John Dee (Elizabeth the First's adviser).
MICHAEL WHITTAKER played the iconic Ian Curtis, with NATALIE-MARIE PERRY as his wife Debbie. Joy Division band members Barney Sumner, Peter Hook, and Stephen Morris were played by SEAN CROKE, GUY WILLS, and ANDREW MICHAEL GROGAN.
Tony Wilson provided LEE JOSEPH with some mighty big shoes to step into, while GILES BASTOW played band manager Rob Gretton. SEAN MASON completed the cast as eccentric record producer Martin Hannett.

FAC 271 was "Advertising Technique", the ad campaign for New Order's brilliant "Technique" album (FACT 275).
Designed by Peter Saville Associates, the campaign consisted of billboards at 150 sites around Great Britain for FACT 275, as well as four 15-second TV ads. I've never seen a photo of the billboard in situ, but the NME ran a little feature on it in February 1989.
