My dad playing with his new XTi!

It is frustrating when you know what kind of pictures you wanna take and your camera refuses to help you realize that perfect shot u're dreaming of... I love my camera, it is the first time I'm experimenting taking pictures for the fun of taking pictures, I still have soooo many things to learn so I'm gonna be wise and wait more before thinking of investing in a more expensive camera... Perfect macros will wait!! :))

Taken Through Reverse lens technique. Achieving a perfect macro with grains...

The pollen grains can b clearly seen... nd thats awesome

Back by popular demand in a larger venue, the Macro Photography: Close-up Photography hands-on workshop was held in the Bayfield Community Centre. Here, Kathy Lucas assisted Jack Pal in getting that perfect Macro shot. (Photo by Melody Falconer-Pounder)

A return to the old watch from a previous day. I realized the other day I had passed up a perfect macro opportunity and not taken any pictures of the internals of the watch. Nice rainy day outside, so I got it out of the case and set it up. Just a little light filter work and levels adjustments again.

I decided today would be a macro day which means I work hard to get what I envisage the end result will be. The macro lens is new and I sometimes attempt shots with it that would be better shot with a different lens e.g. the green pythons at the museum but today's subjects were perfect macro subjects - and they stayed still which many of my macro subjects do not.

When i saw this beautiful red - white dahlia, i knew it would make a perfect macro photography subject. I was experimenting with the composition that would give a good view of the center, yet accentuate the red/white colors.

My not perfect macro shot of frost on my car this morning. Yeah, it's not perfect, but I was just waiting for the windows to defrost. anyway, I kind of like it.

Isolated fruits - Strawberries on white background. This picture is part of the series "perfecting macros"

After bumping into misc. friends and collegues, Taku, Diana and I continued to snap pictures of the blossoms. I decided to continue my search for the perfect macro flower shots while the other two conversed with a few photography enthusiasts.

Not too bad today @ the Point.Vis about 8 mrs and a little surge. ,crowds down.Perfect macro conditions.

Trying to get that perfect macro.

Can't do wrong with a macro shot.

This is probably my best Macro of flower... It's taken late on the evning with little or poor light, but the colors are just amazing...the bokeh is so calm....

Perfect macro shot!

picture is not a perfect macro, but shows the bug in another perspective

OK, not a perfect macro shot - just one for Instagram ;)

Thanks to their preference to sugar, they were perfect macro-models.

Steve figuring out just the perfect macro to photograph. You will be impressed if you go to his site: flickr.com/photos/stevecorey as he captured some excellent macros.

Today I will get lost in the details... :)

February 10, 2010 -- Another snow picture would have been way overkill, for sure. Snow's awesome for, like, two days... Then you're ready to be done. For me, anyways.

I think I have finally figured out how to successfully set up my macro shots. It involves a bit of figuring out how I want the picture to be, figuring out how my framing should be and then getting the camera to focus. After fighting it for so long, I managed a handful of good shots just how I wanted them... Perfect! (Macro mode, however, is pretty much an auto mode, so.... Yeah, indoor photography is not my strong suit yet.)

Car-related: I have a *lot* more toys for everyone to meet. :) Here's my one, free Hotwheels car -- An F430 Challenge.

Why she's out of her package is an odd story, I think -- I bought her after she was already opened. Why? This car is one of the "mystery" cars, so you don't know what you're getting when you buy it. Apparently, parents can't keep their kids from ripping open the packages to see what the cars are. She was one of the ripped open ones, and as soon as I saw her I knew she was coming home with me. I love F430's. :)

Close your jar, Calla...

This is my first perfect macro shot.

Not sure what this is but it was lazy from the cold and therefore a perfect Macro-model.

A less than perfect macro shot.

5/10 - Must try harder!

our camera is horrible for regular shots, but pretty good with macros... except for the eating the batteries part.

sleeping kittens are perfect macro subjects.

Flowers in my living room, it's not a perfect macro lens, but my 18-55 DX II works better than most kits.

Out and about on a cold winter morning. Looking for that perfect macro shot. This one wasn't it! LOL

A rare picture of a master (or should that be mistress?) at work. JforJ teaches me how to get the perfect macro shot using nothing more than a drop of nectar mixed with superglue.

No editing , just the perfect macro of a fly on my finder

What do you do during a 10-hour road trip?

Why can I take a perfect macro when it's not a flower out in the wild?

It was a chilly August day when I found this guy-- I was surprised to see him out at all. He was concentrating so hard on his pollen collecting he never noticed me and his exaggeratedly slow, bumbling movements made him a perfect macro subject.
